http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/101/1014486p1.htmlAugust 17, 2009 - If your Xbox 360 hasn't broken down yet or suffered from the dreaded red ring of death, then consider yourself pretty lucky.
A new survey published in Game Informer's print edition indicates the Xbox 360 failure rate has climbed to a shocking 54.2%. The magazine surveyed nearly 5000 readers, asking them about their experience dealing with broken consoles.
I guess Microsoft is working miracles and they're doing something right if people are still buying it. I'm surprised, though, it seems like not many people look at this when buying a new console. I'd rather spend my time gaming than waiting for a broken console to be shipped and a repaired one to return.

Hasn't the build quality improved since release? This survey is a reader survey, influenced by 1) liars, as the RRoD is quite a joke among owners, 2) poor experiences causing people who have had a failure more likely to respond then the apathetic that haven't had any problems.
I'm not saying the failure rate wasn't abysmal, it was, but buying a 360 (edit: a new one) shouldn't be a 50/50 chance of critical failure.

Even if the failure rate were around 40-45%, that's still ridiculously high.
Conclusion: People r stupid..Sup wrote:

Yes it has. The new Jasper chipset is practically RRoD proof.Defiance wrote:

Don't use logic with the OP though.

I've been through two 360's
I've had mine since launch...one RROD and, when I told MS about it, they paid for me to ship it to them and sent me a new one less than a week later.
