, he could get a better CPU or GFX card or whatever. I don't know if the combo is really that good, but I'm looking at the same thing for a new computer for my family's use.
What does he want to use it for mainly???: gaming, internet...
EDIT: you could get Vista x64 $10 cheaper, but witht that one you get a free upgrade to 7 after release.
Mobo got not so great reviews, so "meh", but this general direction I think is close to as good as you're going to get for $600...
