... Oh, yes, you're right. That's worked so well. Illegal activity is almost nonexistent.
Stricter laws will do nothing but make it harder for normal citizens to get guns.

The problem with stricter laws is that they only affect the people who follow them. I think that's true of ANY law.

I got this idea from Brad alright, he is the one who's head thought of body count when he first read about a massacre.

But I mean just the fact that person failed so hard that he went and did this, and he failed at failing...

Active shooters suck.  I can ALMOST understand Uzique's logic, but the targets most active shooters pick don't even know them.  We're talking some REALLY twisted attempts at logic.  Take the NIU shooter.  He had never attended class with his victims, as he had already graduated.  The New Life Church shooter took out a family in the parking lot because he didn't like Christians.  (Fortunately, he was stopped just inside the main entrance.)  I really doubt Cho felt belittled by the majority of his victims at VT.  The shooter in Pittsburgh hated women, and picked a class at a gym.  I doubt they did anything to him.

In this case, the Columbine killers almost seem to be an exception.  They did seek retribution from those who bullied them.  (They also targeted others, so even that example isn't quite accurate.)

The problem is most of these shooters feel victimized by the world, and decide to take it out on random people.  There is no justice or fairness in that.  It's not retribution, it's bloodlust and egotism.

Concealed Carry Permit holders could have stopped tit if there were more, and if it was legalt to carry @ schools.

Concealew Carry Permit holders kill/shoot in error 1/3 as many times anually compared to cops, and are commonly the people who end school massacres unless the shooter offs themself. Police often arrive minutes after the shooting is over, unless they are already in the vicinity. Permit holders are also unlikely to commit crimes.

  • Trained Concealed Carry Permit Holders shoot innocents in error 1/3 as many times as Police annually.
  • Effect of "Shall Issue" Concealed Handgun laws in US: multi-victim public shootings down 84%, death in said shootings down 90%, injury in said shootings down 82%
  • Dade County, Florida created a tracking system to track the frequency of crimes committed by their 21,000 Concealed Weapon Permit Holders in 1987, between then and 1992, 4 crimes were committed by permit holders, none involving injuries, no innocents were harmed by a permit holder. The program was abandoned in 1992 because there were too few crimes to render it useful. The entire state of Florida recorded a total of 18 crimes by permit holders between 1987 and 1994. As of 1998, there was one incident when a permit holder shot someone after a traffic accident, but the shooter was determined to be acting is self defense. As of 1998, no permit holder had shot a police officer, while there were several cases of permit holders saving the life of an officer.

Perhaps I misunderstand your point, but I don't agree. There is logic to attacking a group of people at a church if you hate Christians. Not saying its a logical thing to do for the everyman, but a logical target if you're sick enough to act so violently. The 24 Hour Fitness shooter had so much animosity towards women, he attacked an all female class in the gym. The Columbine shooters follow this pattern, but more specifically. I don't recall if they targeted specific names but they did attack members of certain cliques in the school, e.g. the jocks who traditionally wore their hats perpetually and backwards.

It may not be retribution on specific people, but if they're somehow linked to a group or stereotype that the shooter wants revenge against, it makes no difference to the attacker.

In other cases, like NIU, the shooter was simply very sick but perhaps didn't have specific animosity, just the urge to lash out and went where he thought of first. I certainly can't say for sure.

Yes, it is twisted logic.  If one feels wronged by a group of Christians, then attacks a different group of Christians, it doesn't quite make logical sense.

These shooters tend to target people they don't know/never met.  Their "judgement" is based on hardly credible affiliations with the group they feel wronged by.

Take the New Life shooter as an example.  He felt wronged by people at the missionary training center he was kicked out of.  He murdered a couple people there, then proceeded to murder a couple of kids walking out of a church 60 miles away.  Why them?  That is the twisted logic.  The "retribution" idea is twisted to justify the murder of anyone remotely connected (real or perceived connections).  Most of these shooters place blame where none can logically be placed.  That's one of the reasons they piss me off so much.

Most of the time they are twisted fuckers who somehow rationalize "the world" wronged them because they cannot cope with their own failures.  Then, they decide to take "revenge" by targeting random people.  In most cases, as soon as they realize they are not going to keep control of their murder spree, they off themselves.  These people are not acting logically.  They decide it's alright to murder random people because they can't deal with their own pathetic lives.  Then, when they don't get their way, they kill themselves.  These people are pathetic failures who decide to cause unbelieveable pain and suffering just so they can feel like they actually did something with their sad lives.  Twisted is one of the few ways I can think of to describe them, other than pathetic little pansies who never matured past pre-school levels of problem solving.
