From reading your first few paragraphs, check your exhaust pipes for holes or corrosion. If you have holes in your pipes, it can cause a loud noise and could be the reason why you smell something (does it smell like exhaust/gas fumes?)

Check your muffler and cat as well, just to be sure. If that's ok, then I don't know what else it might be, there are tons of things that could be causing your car symptoms.

Either your O2 sensor or your intake manifold/heads have a prob. Is the smell a sulphuric one, like someone farted, and quite strong? Is the engine hard to rev up while in gear?

Leak in the exhaust system or leak in the inlet system, probably the inlet system. That would explain crap perfomance, noise would indicate an exhaust problem - usually, but could still be either.
Could be a cracked hose or loose fitting. Check everything. Check your air filter is in properly, the box is tight etc.
Could be a cracked or loose inlet or exhaust manifold, leak around the point the injector fits into the manifold, etc etc.

Could also be something funny like a crankcase breather leaking.

how low was the oil? If it was just 'low' then its unlikely permanent damage has been done, if it was off the bottom of the dipstick then maybe.

It may be a vacuum leak.  The easiest way to find them is to get starter fluid and spray it around vacuum hose, intake manifold, etc.  If there is a vacuum leak, the engine will rev up because of the starter fluid sucked into the system.
Thats actually pretty dangerous, but might work. Make sure you have someone on hand with a fire extinguisher and spare eyebrows - and WEAR GOGGLES.

The way you decrsbe it the air sound = vacuum.
Though I already had the O2 sensor go berserk.  The part was like under $30.00 but the bench test did cost like $100.00.
Sometimes when one go wrong some other parts are giving up as well.

sounds like your exhaust doughnut.  1 it would make it louder when you rev it.  2. it would explain the smell problem. 3. this would also cover your hissing problem.  4. your catalytic converter could be clogged.

the doughnut is where you exhaust connects to the manifold it works like a washer. if its cracked or broke it will cause those problems.

loose clutch wont make those things happen.   if its either one they both can be fixed in a couple of hrs.  you could do it. not too hard to do.

Engine Diagnostics are a bitch without a scan tool.

Possible Problems;
Clogged Air Filter.
Dirty/damaged Mass Air Flow Sensor.
Dirty/Warnout 02 Sensors.
Warnout Throttle Position Sensor (only if it uses a throttle body)

You have to keep in mind, Shitty Engine performance and the exhaust smells can be 2 different problems.
Dirty Injectors
Vacuum Leak
Intake Manifold Leak
Exhaust Manifold Leak

Sounds like it could be burning oil (worn piston rings)

im a 2nd year apprentice mechanic (3rd in dec)

but i spend all my time on my pc....

sounds like a few things
smoke on startup in the morning would likely be worn valve stem seals but there is a lot of things

everyone who has posted here (pretty much) have valid posts as to what may be wrong but it could be 1 of these problems, or a few, or other things that havent been mentioned

if you dont know anyone who can take a look for you, ask your friends parents if they know anyone etc. surely someone is a car enthusiast or knows someone who is
