k I need to buy some books online found the ones Im going to buy the question I have is that I need the U.S. edition, but I found some that are international edition which are cheaper like 60% cheaper. Was wondering if anyone has ever ordered an international edition for a book I talked to some people and they said some bad things about the international edition books... however I found some international edition books online and it states

"This is an International Edition textbook, the only difference with the US edition is the ISBN, slightly different front cover and the exterior binding which is a paperback. The contents and layout are identical to the US edition. Printed in original color on High Quality Paper."

any help?

NEVER make compromises with your education!!! What's your gut say? It would prob be ok to get the int versions, but why run the risk of not getting vital information?

Always buy them brand-new in your countries (or the reading list's recommended or stated-otherwise) edition.

I just stocked up with a £500 Amazon.co.uk order for next year's course. I love getting that big 'ole box delivered, with that new-book smell!

I know friends who went with the int'l versions and the content should be pretty much the same (hopefully the page numbers are still the same, too) but it's really only smart if you're still paying less than the total you would have spent after selling back the hardcovers.

I've used international editions before. Only noticeable difference was that it was paperback instead of hardcover. Page numbers and all that were still the same and everything was in English.

I use half.com a lot. It's a great site and I haven't once gotten a raw deal (though I know people who have had 1 or 2 bad purchases). Buy used books for literally half the price of a new one (hell, one time a new book on half.com was a third of the price that it was at the book store, and at the book store they didn't even have the book bound! Just gave you a heap of papers!). Then when you're done with the book, sell it to someone else.

What subject?

If its maths, science or engineering it shouldn't really matter (unless they use different units, which I doubt). But if its economics or law, you'll want to get the right edition.

I bought mine from an ebay service called half.com

I saved about 100 dollars.  All brand new.

Ask your school for the ISBN of textbooks and supplemental materials you need for your class and section.  Look online for it and find the best deal.

edit:  I have used the international ones before.  Just make sure that when you buy it, it says printed in English.
