Not sure where to start as for parts so I'll through the budget first; $600 to $700 CAD could be lower if possible.
I would recuperate some parts of my actual comp;
PSU: Antec smart power 450W
GPU: BFG 9600GT OC
Optic: DVD ROM
HD: WD Sata II 250G
Prosys case, it sucks but if I can manage to use it well I will.
That's about it for the recuperation, I know that some of those part are really not at par with todays performance beasts.
I will also upgrade them later on when the budget will be there.
When surfing Newegg.ca I get a lot of parts but which ones are really compatible with each others is a mystery for me, I will rely on you guys to tell me what is the best for that budget and what will be the best bet for maybe a couple of years.
I'm basically left to source Mobo + CPU + Memory ATM unless I'm missing something.
I'm seeing the somewhat new 1366 socket while the 775 is there since a long time.
I did put the budget up there but is there a way to keep it lower for the moment cause it will permit me to upgrade the GPU and PSU faster then.
What i want to do with this comp;
Gaming basically;
Operation Flashpoint 2
BF3 - if it ever comes out.
Diablo 3
Some other games that may show up in the future.
Mainly this rig I want to build is for gaming not to process/edit videos, images, etc. Maybe some music but I mainly play it on my stereo system.
I'm not sure I should keep that Win XP + I MAYBE able to get a copy of Win 7 from an IT friend this is still to be decided.
To start with lets say that I will use XP for naow.
Didi I forget something that you may need to know?
