You need the Freezer 7 Pro, that one only fits AMD sockets.

The F7P is great. Also look for the Xigmatek HDT1283, great cooler for the money.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Why? He said he has an e8400, so it must be LGA775. No need to get more specific than that.

My OCZ Vendetta II works like a charm, never goes over 50 degrees even under load and makes virtually no noise whatsoever.

So out of
OCZ Vendetta II
Xigmatek HDT1283
Freezer7
Which is the highest performing?
Right now the F7P is my first choice because it is new on ebay for 17 bucks.
EDIT: I know it comes with thermal paste pre applied but do you suggest that I apply different/more?

I would get some arctic silver 5 and put that on instead, it works great.
I think out of the 3 of those, they are pretty evenly matched, but I know for a fact that the freezer7 is really quiet, but moves a lot of air. It has rubber pads to mount the fan, so there is no vibration.
No need to put AS5 on it. If it is unused then it come with MX-2 pre applied which is pretty much dead even with AS5.  I also believe the F7P is the lowest performing but the best bang for the buck of the 3.

Looked up some figures for you from the previously stated coolers:

Product: OCZ Vendetta II     Noise:     20 - 32 dB(A)          Air displacement: 110,4 - 137,6 m³/h
             Freezer 7 Pro                        24 dB(A)                                           77 m³/h
             Xigmatek 1283                     20 ~ 32dBA                                       72.1 ~ 99.6CFM (Not quite sure about this
number found it on a different
                                                                                                                                         site)
Prices in the same order are:

€39,-
€19,-
€34

Maybe this should help you on your way

Oh and do keep in mind that both the Vendetta II and the Xigmatek are 120 x 120cm, don't know about the Freezer7, but make sure that if you chose one of those 2, that is does actually fit inside your case

I can firmly recommend the OCZ Vendetta II

if you want the cheapest though, the F7P does a good job, but feels very flimsy compared to the Vendetta II

btw... I have the Vendetta II and I put a F7P in a mates PC so have had hands-on with both

Yeah, my case is an Alienware so it is fucking gigantic inside. No problem for space. <3 forever RDMC for the numbers. OCZ Vendetta II is looking pretty good right now.

CFM is cubic feet/ minute so just convert that to cubic meters per hour and you'll have the same value

I can also Highly recommend the OCZ Vendetta 2. I have my E8400 at 4Ghz with great temps (even in the blazing hot Aussie summer )

Any of those will do good for E8400 tbh. Vendetta and HDT-S1283 will just do it more silently than F7P.
