So basically i bought my 9800GTX+ and I can step up to a GTX 260 Core 216 55nm for $64.02

I have 77 days to do this and since that cards on back order I may wait a little but just wondering if it's worth it to do such a thing or not and if anyone has had any experience with the evga step up program.

Do you feel the 9800 isnt quick enough?  If ATi are going to release those new 5800s soon, and Nvidia will be a while till dx11, all they can do is reduce there prices.  I'd hold off, even if you where to do that exact step up, if you wait to the ATi cards release, the amount you have to pay up I would of thought, will reduce.

It's not that I don't think it's not fast I was just wondering if that's a good deal.

Anyone who has done the step up how long on average do you think it takes to complete? If the card is on back order?

Never ever ever step up with more than 20 days left. Ever. It's too early. There is absolutley no reason to step up this early. The new Nvidia cards might be out in 80 days.

Just for your reference, 2 9800GTX+ equal a GTX 285.

When a card is not on backorder, a step up usually takes 2-3 weeks. When the classified and GTX 295 came out they took months, as they had no cards/mobos.

Don't worry about downtime, the step ups run on ques. When you are first in line, EVGA has already set aside a card for you. It only takes the time for you to ship the card/EVGA to ship it back to you. Here in SC, that usually means 4-5 days each way. (On UPS ground)

But, If I were you, I wouldn't do it yet. The GTX 2** series is just starting to decrease in price because of the 300s. By the end of your step up you could a GTX 285 for the price of the 260.

Just wait brah.
