Hi all,
So, I moved to Toronto recently, and met a friend I haven't seen in a while. Long story short, she brought some speakers over from Austria. They have a problem.
1. Logitech x210 (shitty, I know. Not mine)
2. They run off 230v 50 Hz. Toronto is 110v idk Hz. A simple socket adapter is what she uses (wtf?)
3. The problem is that they fuzz really badly every 10 seconds. One turns them on, they fuzz. ten seconds later, if still on, they fuzz. It lasts about a second, is quite bad. They do this regardless of whether the input cord is plugged, music playing, etc...
My hypothesis is that they are not meant to be run on 110v. It seems pretty obvious, right? Well, here's what confuses me: they don't fuzz permanently. Unless the AC runs at 0.1 Hz (which I can confirm is not the case), they should fuzz permanently, right?
So, I put that hypothesis on hold. I open the thing up (woofer encloure). No sign of trouble, so wire connection issues are out.
Next, I bypass the woofer entirely and plug the satellites into my output jack raw. I know it's bad, but what's to lose? Man, terrible sound quality. They work. Wierd...
Any opinions? I' still sicking with the power supply incompatibility hypothesis.
