I would like to know how I use the vertical lift and takeoff feature on the USMC F35-B jet. Or in other words, the jet's ability to "hover". I don't use jets much, how long can you hover with the F35-B until your engines overheat and you drop out of the sky like a rock?

Just press and hold "S" to hover. There is no engine overheat.

Or if you are using a joystick (with throttle control) throttle all the way back.

Can you hover for as long as you want? Or does it eventually run out like the afterburner?

Infinite hover, limited only by your lifespan in the aircraft

You can hover for however long you want.

It's pointless and has no real function, just take off normally.

Ive raped a flag with F35 for minutes countless times, though if there are people without parkinson disorder it might not be wise to hover and shoot people cause you get eryx'd if you go too close.

i beg the differ, when going in for repair its very handy to hover 1 second then hover vertically with normal engine til you repaired: afterburner and you have a very fast and vertical liftoff

It's quicker just landing IMO.

I agree to Irish. A normal landing is both faster and safer.

Yeah man, hovering is great for take off! Its not like any opponents with a sraw/jet/chopper or going to sucsessfully kill you!

I remember how I used to always hover my F35 ~300m away from the Beach flag on Wake over the water and just spray those fuckers as they spawned.

Somehow I rarely got sraw'd.

It is only really useful to avoid the FTKs, but it can also be used for lols

Because, no matter how often you rape some people, they'll just keep spawning medic instead of AT
