Ever get tired of watching UAV's circle around aimlessly? Ever wish that you could tell them to fly somewhere else once an area is secured? I do, too. You could work it out like a UAV-control button on the commander screen, allowing you to set a new destination or even patrol coordinates to a UAV already in-flight.

I voted no because i feel that the UAV should not be a commander asset and that it could be controled by any member of the team via th UAV trailer. It would respawn when destroyed and those piloting the drone would recieve points based on spotting enemies, similar to what the recon chopper will be in the Armored Fury booster pack.
IMO, the UAV is fine. There is no need to have 32 people calling for a UAV. Despite what the grunts may think, the UAV really isn't a commanders tool. The Commander does not need it to prep an arty strike. He can use the scan to do this. The UAV is AVAILABLE to the Squad Leaders, and should be used in that manner. Use it to check enemy activity before moving in on an objective. The Commander, if he/she is a good one will delegate where it's used according to the most needed area of coverage. The UAV is fine if used in the proper Squad/Commander relation.
It would be fun to be able to program waypoints. You could hae it travel between to flags, yours and the one your are trying to cap.
Hmm, I agree that the UAV would be nice if it was able to be deployed without the intervention of the commander, but that's just how the game works. There's plenty of unrealistic aspects to BF2 that should be addressed first. I do not agree that for the purposes of the game, that the UAV is not a commander tool. Sat scan is not always available, and dropping a UAV on an area of contention helps your team to get points, which also increases your score. Some might say it's even more useful than artillery.
But as it is, the UAV is subject to the targeting displacement bug which occasionally plague commanders, and as I see no reason why one should be left patrolling a secured area for 80% of its flight duration, I figured that it would be useful to allow the little bugger to actually break from its circular path to go spy another area. That's all.

YES.
If you felt the urge to use a plane but you were on Kark, you could always feel the thrill of flying an RQ-1 Predator down city streets while being shot at.
But a "circle around these coordinates" thing like the UAVs now would be nice if you feel lazy and everything else is reloading.
Oh and the different countries should have different UAVs.
USMC: Either the current RQ-1 Predator or the RQ-2 Pioneer.
IDK about the PLA or MEC though.
(wow so many fugging acronyms)

Sounds cool I wish Instead of Exploding They would just scoot off the Map edge over the Horizion. That would look cooler.
Yeah, they should have a patrol route set up, go back and forth and fly off the map when they're out of fuel. It seems like they half-assed the UAV and just made it circle around the target area. The only problem is it isn't exactly backwards compatable if the UAV can fly in a non-circular path, it would change stuff a lot.
Yes because the uav is not always needed in the same spot for the time that it is in the air.
it would also be nice to have another human controled uav that can be armed with hellfire missles like what the us military uses. the person comanding the uav would have to be in the uav trailer at the time of use

Then just reduce UAV hit points and give enemies the ability to spot them on their rose-com. As it is now, it takes more hits than a jet.EvilJebus wrote:

I said no, but only for the reason that it would unbalance the gameplay of being a commander. You (as the commander) decided to waste the [insert seconds UAV lasts here] seconds of the UAV so you have to make due. And in that time do a "scan" and call out targets.

You wish...
*cues Terminator music*
"REQUESTING UAV" would take on a whole new meaning.
