I'm in Africa right now. I'm in Alexandria on the Mediterranean coast of Egypt. I'm off to the battlefields of El Alamein tomorrow and then back to Cairo before heading home. Other than that I was in Morocco in 2000.

South Africa - Durban and Cape town - 01 for 5 weeks
Botswana - 03 for 3 weeks
Seychelles (An archipelago a few hours off the east coast of Africa) - Next week for 2 weeks (getting married there)

If you're going for safari, stay away from kenya if you can, it's OK, but go to somewhere like Botswana to see the true wild side of Africa.

Americans go to Mexico and the Caribbean. Ancient and beautiful, but not nearly as diverse as the Med. coast or Africa or the Middle East.

On that note, I've never been to Africa. I've never crossed the Atlantic (or Pacific). Just south... very south.

i agree, except that America has it's own rugged beauty (i just spent a long weekend in the SouthWest deserts) and Hawai'i.
but yeah, my idea of a real vacation is leaving the continent - the rest is just a getaway . . .
