Can anyone recommend a good wireless router under $50?

Preferably find it here on newegg.

It's $48.52 without shipping.
Load dd-wrt (custom firmware) on it, and you're good to go!

Tomato tbh.

UI rape.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

I've used both, and I find Tomato far nicer to use, even if it doesn't offer all the features of DD-WRT.

yep me too The missing features is why I 'd. its ok, but surely not a "tbh" alternative.

The question is simply if Nexus will miss those features too.

Honestly, its probably a moot point, i doubt he needs to flash it period. What the router comes with will probably be enough.

Probably. I have a WRT54G v.7 here (thus, no third-party firmwares) that the ISP got us, and it's fine even for me. It does what it's supposed to; broadcast WLAN, and it does one heck of a job of it.

I got the WRT54GL. Works like a charm. Not really going to load any custom firmware onto, not really sure what the point is in a home application. I just need WLAN and it works great.

QoS
more port forwarding options
ability to use it as a bridge/repeater/switch
etc

I have a WRT54GS v7.2, so I'm limited to the mini version of dd-wrt, so I can't make any comments about tomato.
I'll take your word for it though, Freezer.

That's better.

Well I'm only going on personal experiences, as are you. We had Netgear. It was terrible. Lost connection all the time. Didn't even work when we moved house. We got it to replace a Belkin, not a clue why, but we plugged that back in and it's been working since.

Wow it must be amazing then since I'm  running through a 4 year old one. And every one I know that has a lynksis  is over 2 years old, and get this, they still work.
