average life span of headphones?

I seem to go through (break) a pair of headphones about every two to 3 years.
I usually buy headphones in the $75-$100 range

Is this how long they should last?

What is the average life span for your headphones and what headphones do you guys use/recommend ?

I just bought these because of the price drop, anyone else own these?

I use my headphones everyday

marathon sessions with BF2, CSS etc

usually drinking beer, sometimes a lot

my headphones only die because eventually the cord gets pulled out from one end or the other.

The last pair that just died were these and I loved them and plan on trying to get them fixed

I've had a pair of Sony MDR-XD200 for about 3/4 years now and they work fine. Honestly how would you ruin a pair of headphones anyway, unless you threw it at the wall in a fit of rage or some other stupid shit.

mine always break because the cord gets pulled out of the ear piece or the main jack etc and its always by accident like my foot or chair is on one end and I go to stand up and out comes the cord.

I would never throw them or anything like that.

I bought a pair of SteelSeries Siberia's and I'm well impressed with them. I can't really compare them to any other decent headphones, as all I used to buy was crappy headsets for like €10. But paying the €65 for these was one of the best buys I could have done imho

Ditto. I used my sony MDR-V600 for at least 2500 hours of gaming and they held up fine. I did have to repair the stitching on the inside of them once though. I got tired of using an external mic and eventually bought a pair of Razer carcharias.
