Well, my cheap headset finally biffed on me. I have been looking into surround sound headsets, because I have 7.1 speakers, why not a 7.1 headset? I was wondering if any of y'all have had experience with these sort of headsets or have them yourselves. I have been looking at the Logitech G35 - Only problem with these is that they are USB 2.0. It seems though that the newer headphones are USB now, not bad but makes sound cards useless. Anybody have any thoughts on these?

7.1 headsets are a bad idea. Part because it's impossible to align the drivers properly, part because companies realize that and only sell them as overpriced, cheaply made gimmicks.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

I'll take a look at the Sennheiser PC350. I've read reviews for the G35 that compared the sound quality to the Sennheiser HD555.

I was thinking about that and then I thought about how much better it would be with surround sound headphones. I hate playing, say BF2, and not being able to hear things behind me.
