I'm fine with all your other comments about OSX. It is a better operating system than Windows, and will most likely stay that way for a long time. That is, if you are just a normal PC user and not a gamer. Designing is best on Macs, developing can be done on either, casual shit is best on macs, games are best on PC. In terms of usability and accessibility we all know that OSX wins hands down, just some people would rather not accept that. Even so, nobody can deny that Windows 7 is a huge leap forward for Microsoft, and looks like there will be a lot more to offer from them in later stages. It's the best MS operating system yet.

I don't agree with that comment though, Windows Media Player is quite a fantastic little player. I would put it on par, if not above iTunes. Yeah, sure, iTunes has all the iPod integrated shit and the Store, and Genius and Cover Flow, but they are just extras. Media Player is fast, responsive and very very easy to use.
it's still significantly slower than itunes is on osx (snow leopard), and crashes with all sorts of stupid plug-in problems, and periodically goes unresponsive or bugs out in a multitude of ways. i've lost count of the times ive 'closed' wmp, only to carry on hearing my music in the background because the wmp.exe process refuses to die. have never had a single problem with itunes on osx, ever. it's just that general feeling of stability and rapidity that gives the user a feel of a better experience.
Then ur doing it wrong.

I've used WMP on this comp for four years and I've had maybe one crash in that entire time, and that was the result of my system freezing up.

WMP is much, much faster than iTunes on my PC.  It takes a good 30 seconds for iTunes to fully load   Even on the mac it takes maybe 10-15 seconds which is kinda long in my opinion.  However, I've never tried WMP on a mac, but we were supposed to be comparing native players anyways

im talking about wmp for windows (native) versus itunes for osx (native).

same specs.

itunes loads faster on OSX than wmp loads and operates on windows.

wtf are you talking about it takes 10-15 seconds to load on a mac. i have a 150gb media library on this laptop and it's still instant...

I dunno I've used OSX and I didn't really find it that much different. I can't see how it's better for things like designing etc.. because that purely depends on the software and system specs, not really the OS.  Maybe it does do certain things faster on a same spec computer running OSX and Windows, but at the end of the day it usually depends on system specs and hardware. Of which it's usually cheaper to get a very powerful PC with Windows than it is a similarly specced Mac.

The thing that makes me like Windows more than Mac is because it's so much more flexible. With Macs/Apple you're pretty much locked into their own little bespoke world when it comes to hardware and software.

And the fact that along with that, they also then bump the price up a fair amount because of all that exclusivity and "uniqueness" that is held within the whole Apple/Mac mindset. All of that isn't really for me.

To me, everything you can do on a Mac you can do with Windows on a PC if you have basic competence with computers/IT.

you're not 'locked' into a bespoke apple world at all. get out of 1998, fucking moron.

i can use every app and program that you can on windows. the exceptions are some games that arent developed with cross-platform support and some programs that are coded specifically for windows- which i can then emulate using OSX's virtual tool anyway. the fault here lies with developers not apple, OSX and the standards it runs on are far from 'bespoke'.

From the little experience I have, iTunes works well in OSX, but in Windows it's just terrible.

Arrogant? lol, not really an applicable term here. I'm just tired of your mindless anti-Vista shit, and obsession with a frankly terrible 8 year old OS. Did you go on about how awesome Win 95 was when XP came out?

You are claiming XP is shit so why wouldn't "arrogance" be an applicable term in this case?

This is the first time I hear anyone say XP is a terrible OS. XP is considered one of Microsoft's best products ever. I gave opinions and my feedback on Vista, you clearly bash XP and say nothing of importance. Is it too hard for you to discuss in a normal tone?

Uzique explain.
I had problems with Vista but no major ones in Windows 7. Is that to be considered as an inconsistent approach regarding to new technology?

Arrogant is defined by Wikipedia as "Having excessive pride in oneself". Arrogance would be claiming that I could write a better one. In any case, I don't think it's terrible - I said that more to get a rise out of you - but it is an old OS, and Vista and now 7 are it's replacements, and are much better, now that their bugs have been fixed. I like XP for a long time, but after using Vista and 7 it feels dated and look terrible.

Finally a normal response.

You tried Windows 7? You like it? How would you compare Microsoft's latest OSs?
