Wheres a good place to get the new microsoft word / powerpoint for cheap or free?

Teachers at school sending powerpoints etcx but ic ant open with my older version (like 97 lol)

you can also get power point viewing/editing programs for free. Or, OpenOffice has comparable programs and the ability to convert to and from .doc and .ppt

It might change some of the fonts/transitions if you edit a presentation in Open Office and view it in PowerPoint. Be sure to look it over and test it on the computer you'll be using to view it on to avoid nasty surprises.

Doesn't get much cheaper unless your uni has an arrangement with MSDNA where you can get it for free. Usually something like is also only available to IT students, too.

Really? I use it at home from time to time to edit power points and excel files with no serious issues, only the occasional formatting or font problems and those are remedied pretty quickly.
