Its one of the few titles I played all the way through in 2009. Pretty good game IMO.

never played any of the other REs and i really like RE5.  havent finished it though, kinda just was playing it in the summer.  the split screen on 360 is really fun if you have a friend next to you.

Resident Evil 5 for PC has the potential to be a good game. I've played most of the RE series. However, I think Left 4 Dead blew my Resident Evil experience out of the water and I believe that Left 4 Dead 2 is going to do the same. Therefore, I plan to save my $50 until I can order L4D2.

the fact you're comparing L4D and RE is proof the resident evil lately is just gunfighting like the others.  remember when RE was the original strategy/survival horror game?  i miss those days.

@OP... there is no comparison between RE1&2 to RE5.  it's nowhere near the franchise roots, unless you just like picking up herbs.  there are plenty of those.

RE 1/2 scared the bejesus out of me when I was a young lad.  I hope they eventually go back to their roots.  I think the series got a little too wonky right around the Code Veronica game.. But RE5 ties the RE4 plot lines to the rest of the culture which I thought was cool.

I too am d/ling it as we speak. I played through the 360 version when it came out and loved it (except that wearing a bulletproof vest takes up a slot in your "backpack" which makes no sense). The co-op made it even better.

From the reviews that I've seen the PC version is supposed to be better than the console versions due to some control and graphical differences.

If you're hoping for something like the original games then you may be disappointed as the last to installments of the Resident Evil series have been much more action oriented. I personally like the change. I liked the old games, but I prefer the new ones.
