So I've been going out with my girl a little over a year and I don't know the magic is gone I guess you would say. I would like to be single and not have to worry about anyone else or pleasing someone else if that makes sense.

Her situation at home is bad, her mom is a crazy bitch and her family is crazy. She doesn't have all that many friends, I'm probably her closest friend too...

I want to remain friends with her, and not have her hate and resent me because she just doesn't deserve to be sad - Shes probably one of the nicest caring people I know...

So how do I break up with a girl that loves me without making her depressed and remain her friend?

There is no easy way to do it and just be honest.  I don't know many people that remain good friends with their ex's but good luck.

1. tell her the truth
2. she will cry/be upset, might react unreasonably at first
3. give it some time
4. talk with her again, clear things up for good
5. be friends
6. ?????
7. profit

Depends on the individual, but I don't see how you can do that

No matter what you do it is unlikely she will like it. It will take time.

tell her your feeliings, if she's the person you think she is she deserves the truth, her home situation isn't going to get any better by the sounds of it and there's not much you can do about that.
Hope it goes aswell as possible

Were pretty tight, I know everything about her and she knows everything about me. I don't mean, hey let's go to the mall kind of friend I mean, "How was your week, oh that sucks, get that new car?" type of friends.

More specifically I want to know what you guys reccomend as far as how I should do it. Should I go to her house when she's expecting to hang with me, should I tell her I need to talk and come over? Should I call her?

I'm clueless    Honestly I've only had to break up with 4-5 girls and those were easy as we'd only been going out a few months

Tell her exactly what you told us in the OP. She should understand.

I plan on telling her the truth but my conundrum is when/where and how to set it up

In person, that way she has a chance to see that you do want to remain friends. If you do it online, phone, etc she isn't going to take the "I want to stay friends" at all seriously, if you won't even see her.

Can he tweet her?
Or just update his facebook status to single. That'll go down well.

Honestly man, dont.
If you have a girl who loves you keep her.

My girlfriend is basically the same thing you described about the family being crazy and me being basically her best everything.

Well. Goodluck with whatever you do, but if its totally unexpected to her then it might cause something... Bad. To happen :\

Bad like what? It will probably be unexpected to her, but she's not the type of person that would lash out

If the OP doesn't share feelings of love with said girl, would it not be a little pointless for him to stay with her very probably making him unhappy in the long run?

Terrible advice.

If you don't love her back, let her go.

Yeah I had a similar issue with a gf. Its taken us like 1.5 years to return to what we were like before we dated. Then again she was a very over the top emotional type, so it might not go down the same for you.

So basically you want to dump her because you want to be single again?

Doesn't sound like a good enough excuse tbh... and with all that other stuff about her I don't think it will go down that well.

Play your cards carefully.

I don't get this. He has no obligation to remain in a relationship with the girl. It shouldn't be a hesitant or knee-jerk reaction, but there's no use in staying together "for her sake". It will only turn out to be much much worse when you dump her 2 months, 6 months, a year down the road.
