Bf2 is better than both of those. Crysis is just bad and would stutter on your rig. Cod4 would work fine with an fps config.

Don't even look at Crysis without a dual core and 2+ GB RAM. CoD4 is fun, but would stutter on higher settings (or medium). Considering most dual core cpu's and 8800 era gfx cards are now relatively cheap, you should consider an upgrade

Or maybe that's just Warhead, which has both chasm walls, tunnels, roads in between walls, and a rail shooter. It doesn't get much more linear than that.
Also, crysis has enemies that can take ridiculously large amounts of bullets wearing nothing but a camo shirt.

srs it is quite open gamearea, not as open as OFP for example. But easily beats most games in possible route and tactic choices.
That said, the end sucked, badly. Its like they fired all map developers jsut before the aircraft carrier finale, and put a B grade movie director run the show.
I wouldn't recommend playing it with lets say X800 era rig. You really want to have a modern rig to enjoy the little things that make the game unique.

In Call of Duty 4, you have to kill people to get from point A to point B. In Crysis you can kill them, or sneak past them, or make them fall asleep then kill them, etc... You have much more possibilities to play than Call of Duty 4. In Call of Duty 4 you pretty much have to kill everybody, in the same way, from the same spot, but with different weapons.
Crysis has so many more possibilities.

As far as multiplayer goes, cod4 wins by a long shot. Many different game modes, weapons, leveling up perks & unlocks which [at least for me] gives more of an incentive to keep playing. I'm sure most of your gaming will be spent playing MP so that should be enough to tip the scale towards cod4.
Singleplayer is a toss up. I found cod4 to be far more immersive and overall fun to play with certain missions having a high replay value. For those who are complaining about it being too boring play it on something other than easy mode.
