So my Shure 210s broke on me so I need something new.

Budget 200 - MAX 300 CAD (preferably on the lower side )

So far for headphones I've heard that Technics RP-DJ1200 are good.
Earbuds I'm thinking about Shure SE-530 since I loved my 210s (if I can find them cheap aka ebay)

Audiophiles, roll out!

Oh, only 321 AUD equivalent.  Pity, was hoping for some real recommendations.
Was looking around for some myself.  You might want to look through the list:

The below are earbuds, because that's what I prefer, and thus have only looked into.
Ultimate Ears Super.Fi 5
Etymotic Research HF5  <---ended up buying these
Etymotic Research 6i
Shure/Klipsch - didn't look much here because not really my type of earphone
Audio Technica: ATH-CK7
Audio Technica: ATH-CK9

If you're willing to go 20 dollars over...
Westone UM2 Dual Driver Monitor
Etymotic Resarch ER-4

But Sennheisers are for you if you like your bass a lot (not so clear on higher ranges though).

Sennheiser, Technics. Those are the two I'd recommend, unless you want earbuds. It's starnge that your shures broke, how long/hard have you been using them?

For what, the Senn 555's?

AFAIK, my 555's are fine in the higher rangers..

If you wanna spend more money than only 321 AUD, then whatever set of professional headphones + a digital to analogue converter.. (tho you might already have one of those? )

I think the Sennheisers look really ugly.  Are the Technics I posted any good?

And what about Shures/Klipsch earbuds?  The 530s look amazing and theyre pretty cheap on ebay (under 300).  And the S4s and X10s from Kilisch look good.

I had my Shures for just under 2 years and then they basically fell apart.  But I used them a lot, for sound on my ipod and at my computer usually too.  Plus I wasnt really careful when I travelled with them

Although I'll agree with you on the lack of aesthetic panache of the Sennies, to me it doesn't matter all that much. However, if you go out a lot you might be more concerned.

The Technics are very good; they're one of the best brands for professional audio, and they last long (well, with normal usage anyways ) I'd definitely recommend them, or even the better "studio" version, the RP-DH1200s. Depends on what you want.

Yet, you seemed inclined towards earbuds (not my preference, nor my area of expertise, but hey)--Klipsch should be good, simply because of the brand's quality and reliability. I'd definitely test them out first, though. Shure also, but again I'm not familiar with their earbud range. I do like their headphones, though.

Overall, based on the assumption that you'll listen to music above 340 kbps, and want to listen to it well, get the Technics. They're reasonably priced (under 200, which I recall is your budget), epic quality and beastly sound. Only possible drawback is that they're bigger and heavier. The RP-DJs are splash-proof, afaik, which I suspect might be useful.

The DHs are better than the DJs?  They're a fair amount cheaper, you sure about that? Not that price means a ton I guess

And yeah, I might go for them and then just get a cheaper set of earbuds for when I want to travel light.

Sorry Winston, I had class this afternoon.

The DHs have a better frequency response, and have a removable cord (I think that'd be a plus for you!). However, they seem a little less rugged, and are not splash-proof.

Technics themselves sell them at $10 less, but that's because they don't include a carrying case.

I'd get the DHs for home, and yeah, good idea with earbuds for travelling. Sweet listening!

Okay, I'll try to find a cheap set.  Think ebay is my best bet?

PS - I'm 90% sure I'm coming to Toronto this weekend, we can have a bf2s party if Poschy is around

Yeah, good plan there, on both counts. If you gonna go ebay, make sure they're new/guaranteed/warrantied. Most "good" deals on audio equipment is for stuff that's broken.

Cool for the party, maybe Stimey can drop by too?

I would highly recommend the Sony MDR-V300 on-ear headphones; neodymium magnets, tough cable, generally comfortable, and fairly inexpensive. Plus, mine have lasted for about 5 years and I'm planning to buy a new pair. If you want to go a little more expensive, try checking out the Bose around-ear headphones.

Um, I wouldn't quite recommend Bose. Once you compare them to anything while running at high volume, you'll understand that. (By HV I mean anything that can be heard above the din of a subway, i.e. not what retirees usually listen to-->Bose's market)

Mm, I was referring to their earbuds, not headphones.  I have sennheiser headphones.
