How long will the mines you've laid as an engineer will stay on the battlefield?

1/ Until you swap kit?
2/ All round?
3/ Until you die?

Same with a claymore sometimes, I lay it and people are having picnics on it

I think it has more to do with when you put the detonator in then when you put it on the ground/vehicle.

Even if you never die in a round, I believe that claymore/C4/mines disappear periodically. I just don't know how long they last. Some knowledgeable fellow will chime in I am sure.

The claymores/c4/mines are tied to your kit bag. Subject to the time limit above, as long as your kit bag is active your stuff remains.

About 5 seconds after your bag disappears (either you died or dropped you kit for another kit) you stuff disappears.

If you respawn and regrab your old kit you stuff will remain active. This comes in handy if you planted c4 on a tank but it kills you; you respawn, grab your old kit and BOOM tank is toast.

Fond memory: SpecOps lays c4 on my tank, I as engineer jump out to do battle but die. Dude grabs my engineer kit and grabs my tank. GRRR. I respawn, grab his old SpecOps kit and laughing uproariously detonate his ass.

Hope this answers most of your questions

You can never have more than 5 mines or 2 claymores on the ground at any time. If you have 5 mines on the ground and the refill on a crate, then each new mine you drop will make one of your existing mines dissappear. Test it out on an empty server, it is true. That is probably why you claim they dissappear randomly.
