The concept of good has changed many times over the course of history and isn't even agreed upon now.

To Plato you were good if you performed your fixed social rule.
In Rome you were good if you did your duty to the state.
In Sparta you were good if you were brave and strong.
In Christianity you are good if you follow the rules of your god.

So to you what makes a person good?

To me a person is good if they are willing to disregard others, put themselves first, and reach their full potential.

I think you might be mixing up 'good' and 'successful'. 'Good' comes with it connotations of morality and ethics.

I'm reading A Short History of Ethics by Alasdair MacIntyre. Good to those groups were exactly that. At least according to Alasdair MacIntyre.

For instance in Sparta, a morally good person is the brave one. In Rome a morally good person would take an arrow for Rome. To Plato if you did the role you were given in Athens you were a morally good person.

The entire concept of good and evil is pretty ridiculous. Many who claim to do "good" are in fact "evil". To fight "evil" you must be "evil". In terms of morals and ethics it is still fairly stupid. Nobody is completely "good" regardless of the societies definition of the word.

He was exceedingly generous in his personal life to many friends and relations.

He was the dictator of a massive country and could hardly be said to have shirked his responsibilities, often working until 3am many nights.

He followed his moral system to the letter, often times defining it by example... To many Bolsheviks he was the definition of high morals.

A good (moral) person

Its a person who has internalized the prime moral "respect."
Respect is the prime moral upon which every other moral is based and upon which a decent society is based.
For example. Honesty boils do to respecting the other person. Love boils down to respect. Go ahead and try it, take a classic example of a moral and see if it doesn't boil down to respect.

Dealing with others decently boils down to respect.

In our society many people are taught to handle contradictions in their moral code, like when people are told to love everyone but fags, or Jews, or blacks etc, by masking their learned disrespect by being publicly "tolerant" of others. I would say that those people are living by a false moral code and its funny that these people are more likely to have externalized their moral code requiring them to make weekly trips to a building called a church which in some sense is a form of idolatry.

Anyway, a good person is one who respects all people and all things. and a respectful person is more likely to self center, be psychologically healthy and be able to fully function as an individual.

It's not trolling...he's essentially regurgitating the Nietzsche view of uber mensch. He's taken the description for ubermensch and called it "good". I think that sort of thought - that will to disregard others (by definition, if you are disregarding others aren't you putting yourself first? Seems redundant) on your quest to your own satisfaction is a black mark on humanity. Reaching your full potential is a great thing, something that most people fail to do. But to reach it at the detriment of others (possibly taking away their ability to reach their full potential) is doing a disservice to the human population.
