So...

I'm able to install the game and patch it just fine.  I get that excited feeling like a junkie getting his fix of heroine.. only to be disapointed by a CTD before I even get started. No log in screen... No EA advertisement or the cool Dice logo, not even the god damn uber video.

I've tried uninstall, re-install, patch all the way to 1.41, patch to 1.5.
I've tried the run in admin mode, compatability mode.
Current Vid Drivers/PunkBuster/Direct X

Now i've turned to you for help.

Specs: Asus G50VT Laptop.
Nvidia 9800GS GFX
Intel Core2 Duo 2.53
4Gigs o' Ram
64bit Vista Home Premium

I don't know what to say except that I'm running Vista 64 right now and have been able to BF2 on it for quite some time
Not sure what it could be.

Nah, you still need 1.41.

And since he's apparently done everything with video drivers, punk buster, direct x, it leads me to believe that there's a strong possibility you have a program installed or drivers installed that are conflicting with whatever BF2 uses. I remember one time I installed a program called TuneBite, and a newer version of it caused BF2 to CTD every time because of driver issues.

I've Uninstalled Bf2.  Reinstalled and installed BF2 Special Forces. patched to 1.3, then 1.4, then to 1.41.  then to 1.5  No Dice.

I've lathered rinsed and repeated except using my updateallto1.41 patch then to 1.5.  no Dice.

What screen resolution are you using...?

Have you tried deleting the BF2 folder in your my documents folder

No, I don't need an attitude adjustment. You just need to fuck off.

Hi
I had similar problem.
Here is what i did.
I made sure that i started as administrator. It changes for me at the update. I also found out the punk buster b. had a problem. I made punk buster b run as administrator also like a. I double chek that my firewall allowed both Punk buster a and b.
This made it possible for me to play.

S3v3N  I have the same exact laptop as you and I can play BF2 just fine on it.  I would follow theboving's advice about making sure your running everything as the administrator.  That alone seems to solve all kinds of Vista problems in all areas.  Outside of that I am sorry I don't have any other clever ideas.

If you was to use XP your whole PC would run faster and you wouldn't have any problems at all

did you start in windowed mode so the message dialog pops up (revealing error)?

i literally installed it for the first time on vista64 two days ago, runs great.
