no, most of them would be even worse.cpt.fass1 wrote:
well I can guentee that if there was a real voice behind any one of these songs(my computer at work doesn't have sound) that it would be a hundred times better.
I care because autotuned voices (like that video you posted) are incredibly obviously manufactured. If they sounded completely realistic then great, but it's sort of like the 'uncanny valley' of 3D art. There's a certain point where it's attempting too hard to be human and ends up not seeming human at all.Bevo wrote:
I posted this in EE chat yesterday, it's autotuned.

Inb4 "well that's different". Well it's not. Just because you want to lump auto-tune with R+B/rap/hip-hop doesn't mean it's a bad thing. Is T-Pain using autotune different from Lil Wayne using autotune? How about different from Imogen Heap using autotune? She has a good voice, and T-Pain (IMO) doesn't.
I don't care how it's made, just the quality of music provided. If I enjoy T-Pain's "bartender" where he uses autotune, does that mean it's terrible music or he has no talent? Who cares, I like it, and I don't give a shit what you think.
As long as you take it at face value, it's not an issue. The video I posted is clearly and obviously autotuned and makes no attempt to "hide" it. It even uses the autotuned voice layered ontop of itself to create harmony, something that isn't typically done.Hurricane2k9 wrote:

It's really not the autotune in R and B that really annoys me.. It's the bands and people that obviously don't have any talent, paris hilton, Jeffery star, Merly Cypus, and others that get music probably written and produced for them cause of a tag.. It's annoying there are alot of great lyrical people out there, that might not have the voice to sing.. I guess I'm really just saying I hate corporate rock.Bevo wrote:
Quite.
I think part of the discrepancy is autotune tends to lend itself towards R+B which tends to be more club/radio/"mainstream" whereas the voices that remain "un-tuned" are more hip-hop/rap, where the vocal tonality and rhythm have a much larger presence.
any other spellings?cpt.fass1 wrote:
Merly Cypus
It's like Chinese Whispers, the more it's passed on the weirder it gets.=NHB=Shadow wrote:

Which is fine, but really has little to do with autotune.cpt.fass1 wrote:
