Run WinMTR against 4.2.2.5 for 24 hours, dump the output to a text file, and pass it on to their tech support. It'll let you know where the loss starts, and if the problem exists on your end, on their end, or further out on the Internet.

EDGE on a cellphone over Bluetooth to a computer. Not too bad.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity.
