I'm more ol'school. No, actually getting a firearm is nearly impossible (unless you have a hunting license) when living in urban areas.
My grandad had an FN1910 as his sidearm in WW2 (Winter and Continuation Wars). After his death less than a year ago, the cops contacted my father about it, and of course he was forced to take it to the po-po. There's now a pending application for deactivation and a permit for me to have it as memorabilia. There's a 30/70 chance that I'll get the permit. As it's a larger caliber pistol, after the two school shootings, getting a permit is like convincing that octomom is a virgin.
