Reformatting to XP or 7.

My laptop runs vista atm, and I'm not fond of it, so I was thinking of reformatting my laptop, but I was wondering what would benefit me more, XP or 7?

Specs:

AMD Sempron SI-42 / 2.1 GHz
1 GB DDR2 SDRAM
NVIDIA GeForce 8200M G
160 GB - Serial ATA-150 - 5400 rpm

Something debian based (Debian, Ubuntu, Mint, etc.) > XP > cancer > win 7

at least for that machine.

Yeah I'd go for a lightweight Linux distro as well.
