The fan on my laptop is making this constant clicking noise since the past few days. I know it's not the HDD because it's in the opposite corner from where the sound is coming and it's not the DVD drive because it's next to the HDD. What can I do to fix this problem?

I have a highest temperature on one of the sensors (using SpeedFan) of 55°C. Is this bad?

Is the fan spinning?
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Sounds like bearing fault. My Corsair TX850W's 14cm Yate Loon clicked like mad.

So what?

Just find the fan online, buy one and replace.

did that. Took the cover off the bottom and put the vacuum right up to it.

They say that if you use your stereo to fix the funny sounds your car makes, you know you've got a beater. It shames me to apply it to a laptop.

I've got the same issue with my read 120mm fan. But it ceases after a few time of spin.

Thats what the Volvo dealer told me to do with my 13yr old Volvo, got another 5 years out of it.
Its a 3 yr old laptop, most don't get that far.

This is the kind of situation where I would typically say that an Apple laptop does actually justify its cost in terms of reliability. I hate laptops with a passion. I can't wait to build a rig next year. The power button on my EEE 900 is also being funny. I practically have to bury the power button with my finger to get it to turn on now. Probably will be sending this one in for warranty repair again.
