I made a post in EE chat about a program called JDownloader.

I only really started using it today, and I thought it was more deserving of a thread rather than a post in a million-paged thread.

JDownloader is a pretty lightweight program that organises downloads. It's especially useful if you download from download sites like Rapidshare, Megaupload, Upload.to etc as a free user. You input the links like so:

Click Parse URLs and it'll find out type, size, all sorts of info about the file you're going to download.

It'll then realise it's password protected, and ask for the password to the .rar.

Once it's got the password, it'll wait the specified time set by the website, and start downloading when it can. Once it's finished, it'll even wait the cooldown time set by Rapidshare.

Once the whole package has downloaded, it'll extract the file into a specified location for you.

Yep the program is awesome. Its specifically designed for popular filesharing sites. If one of those sites changes something about how the site works, the devs update the JDownloader the same day.

It even recognizes captchas :awesome:

It also has a LinkGrabber. You dont even have to import links. Just highlight them and click "ctlr+c" and in seconds its ready to download.

And like that isnt enough, it can also capture videos from popular sites like youtube, liveleak, spankwire etc. You just copy the URL of the video, it gets recognized, you confirm the download, select what format you want (mp3, mp4, flv, 3gp) and of it goes.

It's really really good, I started using it a few weeks ago, I prefer it because it was written 100% in java by open source, underground coders so you know it's good!

Makes it so easy when you have those DLC files.

Whilst IDM is not open source, it's still the best download manager out there. JDownloader is good for people who don't want to pay for IDM. Or "pay" for IDM".

IDM is shit for downloading as free user.

I've "payed" for it too, it is good, but for free users JDownloader is better.

I'm not a free user, therefore IDM is the best. Also, it's shit downloading as a free user anyway.

Well download accelerators aren't supported by Rapidshare for free users, so I doubt it.

I use IDM for everything but for the DLC files I use JDownloader. They're both very good.
