Using US websites build the best computer possible. Must include OS in the price... Its not for me and they WILL be buying an OS. They are willing to go with vista or win 7. Bonus points for coming in under budget

OK more opinions please. Keep in mind this is for a buddy of mine who isn't a huge gamer... Just looking to get a decent PC. He says that BF2 is probably the most demanding game he will play, and most of his gaming I think is on an MMORPG from 1997

(this is really overkill isn't it? How much does he need?)

Soundcard:

(I told him that he does need this, doesn't look like it would be much better then the MOBO's

The reviews of the case talk about poor airflow, Think he would have a problem? Not sure if the case comes with PS... It looks like it in one picture, and doesn't in another. Doesn't mention it in specs though so I am guessing not.

He plans to add fans, and another HDD and DVD burner at some point, so some headroom on the power supply would be good.

Don't buy the OS. Save yourself $110.

I had that exact tower. A Cooler Master would be better in terms of airflow and ease of use. Most CM cases have quick release mechanisms for their hard drive bays/PCI-E cards instead of screws.

The Elite 335 is a nice case

Here's a WD hard drive with a 32mb cache instead of 16 and $20 cheaper than the one you posted.

Here's a good budget video card for gaming. It also has an HDMI port if he ever plans on hooking it up to a TV.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6814121326

Slightly better RAM for $6 less + free shipping
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6820231166

He definitely doesn't need a PSU that powerful. This will do nicely.

Last but not least. There's no point in getting that sound card >.<

Yeah, he is newb... I already told him about the soundcard and he didn't realize that motherboards come with one.

I read that, and I chose to tell you to not buy the OS, and save yourself $110.

The case he posted seems randomly chosen, other then it looks like a spaceship. Any other similarly price "cool looking" cases?

That video card is a bit more then he was originally spending. Anything bad to be said about the one he chose originally?

Well, I am not going to buy an OS... because I am not buying any of this... because its not for me.

I'm not sure what your friends definition of "cool" is but practicality really is better than looks when it comes to cases.

The Illusion Black Steel version of the Antec Three Hundred comes with 5 blue LED fans. The front mic/speaker jacks are also a nice feature for a headset.

lol, I dunno what it is either... I am not sure he even really cares, but the case he picked out seems to have nothing going for it other then having the big window and all kinds of flashy bits so I think he may want something similar.

If you "save" $100 on the OS then you can get a decent i5 build for $750.

XFX HD4770 512MB
Corsair 550VX
OCZ Obsidian 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 1600
LITE-ON CD/DVD Burner
ASUS P7P55D LGA 1156 Intel P55 ATX Intel Motherboard
Intel Core i5-750 Lynnfield 2.66GHz LGA 1156
SAMSUNG Spinpoint F3 HD502HJ 500GB 7200 RPM
Antec Three Hundred Illusion Black

That's what i'd go for. But with the $100 OS on top its way over budget at about $850
