i like the medals and all...but i just play for fun and medals just come along...why are people so infatuated with medals and ribbons and such?

EDIT: also how do i fix that sig?

But anyway, it depends on how much you play the game, IF you play so much and your Bored of just playing and having fun. It gives you something to Aim for durring the round like... 18 Pistol Kills. And if you do it...you Feel Special because...There it is...its Gold...I see it...Mmm, Im so Good...

Or they want their Signature to Look Cool... Who knows.

Why are some people so infatuated with awards, you ask?

It's a Freudian thing for them, I guess. Therefore, padding stats is like putting a sock down your trousers.

For most of us, though, it's a series of welcome, small goals within the game itself, especially the medals, which represent pretty significant milestones in one's gameplay. Plus, it's always a thrill to have a new best personal score for a round (one honestly earned, anyway). You tend to remember your best rounds thanks to them being on the books.

The medals, badges and ribbons are a nice addition so that global points and ranks (and thier associated unlocks) aren't the only thing you can focus on while working your way along. After the first few ranks in the new promotion tree (and between all of them in the old one), there seemed to be little to force you to use different stuff. I could have focused exclusively on being a medic for all the revive and heal points, or armor for tons of kills, or old school BH whoring. These were the ways I scored points the fastest, so it might make sense.

While the awards can occasionally lead to ubuses in trying to obtain them, like all you evil knife/revive padders, overall they encourage the average player to spend time trying out all of the available kits, weapons and vehicles. They are fun to get and what is wrong with a little bragging rights anyways?

Me likes me awards

For most of the games I played so far I hadn´t that much motivation trying something different from the usual kits/weapons/tactics... Getting certain awards for me is a goal to set, so I´m motivated to try stabbing people or using the pistol only for a round while normaly I would rely on my G3.

it's incentive so you don't play the same kit all the time. If not, every one might be snipers and camp all day long.

I play for the pure fun of it but I also am obsessed with trying to get all the medals, ribbons, etc. It gives me something to strive for and I think byt trying to abotain them all it gives you a broad sense of everything you can do in the game. It also makes you pretty good at almost everything.

By trying to get all of the awards you are forced to play different aspects and kits as opposed to just one. Look at Blazin for instance... it seems like all he has done is play as a medic. He's probably not very good at some of the other kits and/or vehicles.

Just my opinion

i like the medals, ribbons and batches!
playing for fun having a good round and get an award!
its all very nice!
but the last few days all servers i connected to there are those useless statspadder!
they are not skilled enough to get the knife batch on their own!poor little boys!
so long, kill all those little poor boys!so we have more fun without these statjunkys!
