This guy was buried in an avalanche with a camera on his helmet. He was very lucky to be found after 4 minutes underneath the snow. He goes under at around 1.20 and is rescued at 5.10ish. I felt claustrophobic just watching it. Just gives an insight in to what it would be like being buried by snow:

I Facebook'd it a few days ago. Scary shit, really teaches the importance of an Avalung/ABS Airbag and a GPS tracker.

oh my god, that is fucking terrible.  i feel sick just wondering how heavy that snow is and how hard to breathe it must be.  i have a fear of not being able to breathe, whether it be because of a lack of air or because i'm underwater, or of choking on smoke, or whatever...

I watched it again, and actually like...started breathing heavy in panic for the guy. I also hate the thought of not being able to breathe, and I hate it when sounds get muffled like that. I really hate it when I can't hear properly. It's one of the reasons I don't swim underwater much.

i do like swimming and can hold my breath for quite a while.  BUT ever since i've needed contacts, i can't open my eyes underwater, and i rarely ever swim underwater because i'm always afraid i won't find a way back up.  sort of a "stuck under ice" thing.

And that right there is why I always take my Avalung and probes when I go backcountry. Haven't needed to use them yet thank god.

Oh, and the wincing sound is him trying to swallow the snow, he is actually pretty calm.

I can't open my eyes under water (don't know why, I just can't), so unless I have goggles, I hate going under even more

The text said he had his Avalung half in when he went under, so the weird noise is him probably trying to breath through it. I'll stick with ABS bags myself, saves the whole getting buried thing.

Ah, the news thing I saw, he tried to get to his Avalung but couldn't in time, and snow kept filling his mouth, preventing what he could get to to become restricted.
