That's the entry requirements. You have to shape up quick after that.

The requirements are:

1.5 miles in 13:30
2 pull ups (palms toward you)
44 sit-ups
I thought they would be much more rigorous. I'm just in decent shape and I could blown all of those out of the water...

ed: @ menzo, I think im about the same
I have to agree with that, I mean I'm not in the peak of physical fitness (still better than I was a month or two) ago but still that strikes me as a rather easy requirement wise.
thats not the requirements to finish boot camp i.e become a marine.

i guess they figure to give fatties a chance.  some make it.  some dont.

ROFL

No way that would be boot camp ending requirements, or the USMC would be the United States McDonald Couch potatoes

I figured that, but I thought entry would be more rigorous as well.

why?  i have seen some muscle heads and runners fall out of hikes with all the gear you carry, while the smokers and drinkers march on.

Quite interesting there Forman.

BTW is boot camp really that hard?

How's the educational side? How good do you need to be with math n shit?

Where would they put me seeing as I'm a PC geek? And I'm doing a 3 year PC School.

i cant answer for everyone.  i know for me the first week was terrible......horrible.  but, as i got used to it, i mostly got in trouble for laughing at the DI's when they yelled at other people.

as for education, you just need to be fairly smart and good at memorization.  not that you have to, but life would be easier for you for sure.  i mean, you have people from college and drop out hillbillies all together.

I can do 17 dead-drop pulls-up before I have to "kip" to get to 20 or 25 pull-ups. I don't believe in kipping because I see guys doing it right off the bat. Kips are Haxs TBH

Football Practice was more physically demanding than bootcamp.  School of Infantry was the shit.
