No really, it does. Did you get it working or are you still busy facepalming?

EDIT: Just in case youre wondering, I went from XP x86 to W7 x64

Most of these LCD/Plasma/LED hi-def TVs have component video hookups right? What about HD monitors?

I'm tempted to buy a USB->Component cable for my PSP (god knows why I randomly want this all of a sudden) and I just want to make sure it'll be usable in the future. I'm looking at getting a new monitor soon with some HD hookups, but the component would be nice. Even still, once I get my own place down the line and have some money, I'd like to get a fancypants TV. (Right now my parents have an old Toshiba CRT TV that has component, which is what I'd be using in the meantime )

EDIT: FFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU-- Turns out this TV doesn't support progressive scan, which is needed to play games But I have another question (which I'll Google in a minute, but since I'm here first...): Will I still be able to play PS3/PS2 with component cables? Not all PS2 games support progressive scan, so I assume I should be able to play. But without the progressive scan, does using component instead of composite even make a difference?

For the audiophiles.. I was downstairs looking for something when it dawned on me that we have an ooooldschool stereo system that isn't hooked up to anything. It's just sitting there..

The amp is a Rotel Integrated Stereo Amplifier RA-413, CD Player is a Rotel RCD-865BX and there are two Mordaunt-Short MS40 speakers (they are old speakers as well, just in case there is a newer version of the MS40).

I think I might have a looksie later, and see if they actually turn on Is any of it decent? lol

Even then, I can't really think of any mac that would get anything near decent playable framerates on Crysis, except maybe Mac Pro or the brand new iMac with the i5, even that I doubt would have the ability to do so.

Awesome as it seems, it's a bit too detailed.  For example, that cobblestone road would be in reality really painful to walk on - usually cobblestones are smoother and flatter.

Holly shit! Rotel & Mordaunt Short? I don't know the specific models but that setup should be amazing if it was treated right through the years (everything on nominal)

Nice 25WPC amplifier and quite high-end speakers. They retailed £170 a pair back in the mid 80's, that's about $600 today. The CD player is a bit old (digital tech. has moved forward quite a lot since it was made), but it shouldn't be all that bad. I wouldn't use it in my main system, though.

Nice find none the less. Good luck!
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP
