im supposed to be able to solve a tangent line problem for my midterm tomorrow, but I dunno what that is anymore. Im looking through my notes and its a big clusterfuck. sounds like its just a derivate problem at a certain point? that sounds right? i already put a little smiley face next to it when i was studying earlier.
the derivative gives you the slope of the tangent, then use the (x,y) value in point slope format y-y1=m(x-x1)

I figured, couldnt find any real examples. Dunno why that wasnt lumped in with the rest of the derivative stuff.

cheers anyway, off to study for my music midterm (back to back tomorrow, fuck me)

I was looking at my flowchart (seriously, there's a flowchart we have to follow as ME majors) and I have to take that one in a few semesters. -_- 4 semesters of history/government as well, fucking state mandated bullshit.

I didn't get credit from IB exams. Even if I did AP I'd still have 2 semesters of it at least.

I tried taking AP US history (without taking the class/studying) and got a 1.

lol, I got a 5.  I have to take some non-western class next semester (won't have time senior year).  I'm trying to decide which sounds the least awful.

simple algebra pal

ln(k1/k2) * R/Ea = 1/T2 - 1/T1

ln(k1/k2) * R/Ea + 1/T1 = 1/T2

T2 = 1/[ln(k1/k2) * R/Ea + 1/T1]

The hell... How did I get 1, -5 when the answer is x= -1 or 5 for x2-4x-5=0? I thought I did the quadratic formula and all right...

I don't see how it became n-7=-3n+1.

should be -n+7 = -3n+1, doesn't matter though it's the same as n-7 = 3n-1

So n can only turn out to be -3?

But surgeons,

-n+7=-3n+1  <=>  n-7=3n-1

thus there'll only be one answer.

I'd love to help, but I dunno what |a+b| means.

Uhm basically we're doing something with absolute values and such.
So if |a+b| = 7, for example, then a+b could = 7 or -7 because the absolute value, even if negative, is 7.

Plug n back into the equation.
Only n=2 satisfies the problem.

oh, wow....hmm I guess it's kinda a necessity to check the solution...

Oryte, I remember now.

As you said, an absolute value has to be positive. -3 doesn't give a positive absolute value.

edit- lulz, Arc just said the same thing... I think.
