I don't know how many times I've played and seen guys with higher rank than me driving tanks over and over and not being an engineer.  I figured out driving tank=engineer after about a week of playing.  Instead of crying for repair pull off to a remote place and fix it yourself.  If you have figured out to be an engineer try sticking with the other armor.  Two engineers in seperate armor is very effective because you can REPAIR EACH OTHER!!!!! OK I'm done bitching so maybe somene can tell me why its an advantage to be anything other than an engineer why driving tanks.

true, being an engineer when you are with other armour is what to do,,, the odd time if i find im going around a map like OMAN or something with no support from other armour i might go anti tank and select SRAW before entering so that when i meet other armour i get and extra shot with SRAW while my main gun in armour is reloading.

Dude... You have something really wrong...
You don't have to be an engineer in order to drive one. Sure it is nice and handy to have three #%$^ing armors repairing each other but there is a class called engineer to repair damaged armor. Being able to support the team with armor constantly with a help of an engineer will give your team an edge. Also I've found tanks and armor as being medic or support quite useful as well since I'm an infantry soldier, I require lots of ammo and health points in the heat of battle.
Being engineer for armor is good for camping in one spot with other armor and this encourages people to camp the whole time and get kills but not advancing making many infantry players really annoyed.

while i agree that the engie is most suited for armor combat, the Anti-tank, Support and Medic kits also have their uses. like the mad scotsman said abt the AT, very useful. and as support or medic, you resupply or heal the infantry around you which can be very useful in maps like sharqi or mashtuur.

Two engineers in armor can take flags very effectively.  Even survive a TOW hit.  Who says the engineers in armor are going to just sit and camp?  The only time I camp in armor is when I'm taking a flag.  An engineer who can keep his tank or his teamates tank alive and still fighting is more effective at helping infanty then a dead medic in a tank who can't stay in the fight.

As has been said, the Medic, Support, and AT kits are all useful in armor.  I personally like to jump into a tank as medic and have an engi be my gunner.  That way, he jumps out to repair during battle, and I automatically heal him if he catches some bullets.

I'll be a damned jihad tank if I like, because I can. I am a teamplayer but ranks make this game somewhat unfair I'll leave that one up to you to figure out.

the most anoying are the sniper wannabe in tanks.. i mean medic and suport ok.. it helps a bit. but sniper in tanks its really anoying.. i think its because they cant get kills playing as a sniper.

Doesn't matter who is in the tank when I play... The Jeep hits 'em where I want it as I see the embers from a charred up fossil of a tank.

Hey, if no one is using or if I spawn near one and no one else takes it.. eff it, effers is mine and I don't care what kit I am in. I'll hopefully mow down 10 dudes before I die anyway.

9 times out of 10 i'll be eng in a tank, not only for repair but I always drop my AT mines on route for those extra points.
If I'm in a good squad, its great to have an APC with an eng and me as a medic, he stays save until needed and gets healed by me if he does need to get out and repair.

All i saw in the original statment was a few key - words,
"guys with higher rank than me"
You see the author here makes these people with higher rank than him out to be a bunch of retards,  he assumes that they dont know it is an advantage to have a wrench (after all the wrench can fix anything)...
I believe the author should have taken a couple steps back and thought, hey these guys with bigger ranks are much better than me, and there must be a reason why they dont have a wrench out.

The answer is because they already have gold support and they are going for other golds.

and besides that,  i think it is also useful to have Special-Ops while driving an apc,  nothing quite like blowing up that pesky tank, with a nice apc bomb...

Thank You,

Dude Souls... you don't know that much about being an infantry...
Please look at the game not just from VEHICLE WHORE point of view... Your KD ratio, time playing as infantry is just not up to standard... Engineer in armor is good, I did not say it is bad. However, Medic or Support is also a valid choice since it helps out the TEAM not just ARMOR WHORES.

as an driver DO NOT BE A ENGINEER! but....

Driver : Medic
Gunner: Engineer

Its very effective, if u get damaged the Engineer hops out and repairs u behind the tank for cover...if he's been hit u automaticly heal him. and when he's dead u can hop out quik with paddles out and revive him and hop back in. so as a driver be a &%·$"$"$ING MEDIC! coz i when i,m the engineer as gunner i cant do shit with extra ammo or that the dude is yelling at me that i have to repair it while he's sitting safely in his can of tuna.

because as an Driver while beeing an engineer is not really a good thing to do. when u get damaged u have to get out if ur in a firefight or not...or u need to go drive away to a safe zone to be repaired well that costs time and maybe you just bump up an enemy AT or Spec ops.

so as a driver be a medic and ask someone to be ur Engineer in gunner position

I personally more prefer this setup. It is more effective than engineer in the driver seat, you can repair yourself.

Regarding non-engies driving tanks, consider in what situation he got it. Perhaps he was doing something else first but ended up having a tank, eg attacking an enemy flag or find a tank in homebase that was unused.

Having a engy repairing you in battle only works if the tank doesn't move too much when engaging the enemy. That's not always how it is.

Those are the only times I end up in any vehicle besides transports. Hell, I can't pilot things for crap (see stats here for a laugh... My Jet K/D ratio is good for a laugh...) and I certainly have no idea how to drive tanks.
Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.

you only have to look at Souls stats to see he's not a team player...Total time played 557 hours ,lone wolf 323hours must be one of those guys.."stuff you jack I'm alright" if you want lots of easy points n kills then any idiot can drive round in a tank/apc don't take much skill

YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!  I especially like the Sniper Tanks!

If you're going to use armour then be a fricking Engineer.  I am so sick of people using the tank, dying and then respawning as a medic to use the tank again.  Is there a grey matter shortage out there?  If you want to be an armor whore then please use ENGINEER!

I am an armor whore and i'm so sick of being in an apc next to a tank and me repairing him while he (in support kit) resupplying me!  I don't need ammo dipshit...i need to be repaired!!!

Okay, for all of you guys who don't agree with the original poster:

1) if they are big spawling maps (like oman or qatar) where there is lots of armor then pick it up if you see it (regardless of kit).

2) if you're on a city map (karkand, mashtur or sharqi) where armor (which is scarce) decides who wins/loses then don't grab the armor unless you are an
engineer.  if you're going to be such a critical element of your team's success then do it right.  be engineer.

You guys really need to get over it. It is a tank nothing so special about them and i dont care who hops into the tank with what ever kit they decide to use maybe thats there gameplay. And i dont see any armor whores criticising you lot saying you should be engineers and tail them everywhere they go. Just dont cry because a sniper has took your tank before you can get there.

i never flame on these thread (and i'll try not to now) but i must say that you don't have a very good arguement.  i'm not even going to being to explain to you why your logic is faulty but if you feel the need to challenge me i will indeed shred your logic to ity bity pieces.  spend a little more time in armor before you make silly statements.  there is absolutely no gain from having a medic or support in armor.  challenge me if you wish:)

problem isn't when a sniper get the tank first (at the beginning of a round).  its when that sniper respawns again and again and grabs the same tank.  that pisses me off cause it hurts the team.
