Just got back and daammmnnn. That was really hard, thought I had the organic chem bit under control, but no ..and that was the part I had done. Was doing the natural products stuff last night. That actually was oke. Guessing this will be a resit, talk a bitch

ITS is becoming a joke.

It used to be cool.

Now I actually am procrastinating. I think "yeah, 2 sentences of notes is good enough" then I go do something else.

I managed proper study for my finals year and my entire MSc.
Apart from that I was hopeless.

The only way I can really learn properly is steadily, a bit at a time, over a long period.
All distractions have to be put aside, for a year or two studying IS your life.
It helps if you can enjoy it a little, or make it competitive somehow.

Oh hey that reminds me, still have a buy a friend dinner cos he got a higher grade for the previous exam
I try to make it competitive, it does help, but not that many other people want to make it competitive.

that's what I have to do.

I always find a guy in my class that is my level, and start a friendly rivalry. Amazing effect for me.

Sometimes I just pick someone at random and tell myself 'I'm going to beat that dickwad'.
Occasionally it actually happens.

Another challenge 'I'm going to be so far ahead in this subject the exam is going to be a piece of cake and I'll be able to walk out laughing'
In my finals year I did every single past paper there was, most of the exams required you to attempt six out of eight questions (or something).
I did all eight and crossed out the ones I didn't think were perfect.

My previous years weren't quite so awesome so I got an average grade overall. (My personal challenge for uni was 'Get through this without jumping off a building')
Did get a distinction in the Masters though.

Sit down with your textbook open and an empty refill pad beside you. As you read things, write them out. It has always worked for me. Even if i'm not paying attention when I'm writing it I can still remember it. The downside is it takes quite a while to sit down and write loads of stuff, but it's worth the effort if you don't have to do it again for another few months.

Good point, works much better than just reading.

I always take a solid 3 days for nothing but the material. I cram in those days by making all of my notes point form for the first, on the second I will come up with my own version of the exam and ensure I can do it, and on the third I spend my time memorizing all of the points I have left out of my mock-exam and anything I seem to be struggling so that it's the freshest in my mind.

I'm definitely a crammer, but it works very well for me.
