like people say its an easy way to get there kd much better with that kit but sniper is a bit n00bish and im crap at sniping so if i want a badge with it i will tank it just so i can.

- If your going to drive a tank be a %$^#&@ engineer!!!!
Do you know how hard it is to get a tank on 64 karkand? You have to make it past the other 6 people after it.I be spec ops when trying to get in a tank because if there is a 1 in 4 chance i will get it the i dont want to be stuck with that shitty shotgun if i go to take infantry.
At least when spec ops if i dont get the tank i can play infantry and be more of a help to my team.

Although I'm not bothered with what kit other uses when driving a tank, I can recommend being an engineer simply because it's more fun. The whole tank management thing is enjoying, deciding when to repair etc. Don't forget that the engy can remove mines and the tank is the vehicle that have most problem with them as it can't circumvent them easily.
I still will spawn as an engineer in this situation. If I get a tank/APC then great! If not, I'll grab a Vod/Hummer, lay some strategic mines around and follow behind the armor to repair them. Why? Because armor whores know the value of repair vehicles ... I'll be a team player and do the role even in a Vod/Hummer.jord wrote:

im am not an engineer when im in a tank and i never had any complaints by anyone. and usually im in a lav i like a little better than the tank. the only reason i like the tank better is when i have to shoot down a chopper other than that i prefer the lav as a medic. most higher ranking people already got there expert in the engineer class thats why they dont use that kit when in an armor. i know thats my reason. i havent used the engineer kit in months.
Along the same line of logic then:
I don't know how many times I've played with people with higher ranks than me running around and getting wounded and not being a medic. I figured out that getting wounded=medic after about a week of playing. Instead of crying for a medic, run off to a remote spot and heal yourself. I mean, can anyone tell me why it's an advantage to be anything but medic when you are injured?
(Repeat substituting "getting wounded" and "medic" with "running out of ammo" and "support"..... you get my drift.)
It is called TEAMWORK.
Oh, so next time I am playing as sniper and I run into an enemy CP that has empty armor, I should leave that for the enemy to jump into as they spawn?

I'll be whatever class I feel like. I've gotten about 19 kills on a kill streak (including APCs, I was in a T-90) WITHOUT being engineer.
I don't care if the armor isn't an engineer....
but I do care if I AM an engineer, and he's not and he's running away from me trying to repair him and he runs off and gets killed
but I do care if I AM an engineer, and he's not and he's running away from me trying to repair him and he runs off and gets killed
yup i never do that usually when i get hit once i ask for repairs i hate when i have an engineer with me and he sees i get hit and then he sees me get hit again and he finally wants to jump out and repair by then its to late. pay attention to the vehicle you are in as soon as he sees a tank jump out and get behind him or on the side and start repairing dont wait until he gets hit to repair rookies.
I like people who jump out to repair. I can steal their armor.Souls wrote:

"I don't know how many times I've played and seen guys with higher rank than me driving tanks OVER and OVER and not being an engineer."
Im talking about guys like on Karkand who spawn at the main. Most will drive the tank until it gets hit twice. They then most likey will have to bail out with no hope of fixing it. Therefore the tank is done supporting infanty/team until it respawns and makes it all they way back to the fight.
What I'm trying to get across is:
The tank will last alot longer if your an engineer. Therefore you are able to cover the advancing infanty longer giving them more support.
You dont have to waste commander resources (supply crates) to keep going. Freeing the commander up to to use them elseware.
Engineers are ideal to spawn at the main base where most of the tanks are becase they can repair the commander assests.
I am thinking TEAMWORK so I feel the best kit for tanks is ENGINEER
ok what else would the commander use the supply box for dummy?? infantry soldiers only last a couple of seconds on the map why would he drop a supply box on the soldiers. when im commander i only drop supply boxes on my armor. i might be a fucked up commander for seeing that way but i would rather help my armor stay alive a couple of more minutes than my infantry a couple of more second. infantry is expendable and armor aint. ive gotten a 32 kill streak in a tank without being an enginner holla at me bitches
Oh,wow, let me guess, your 32 kill streak in a tank was on Karkand and it was mostly shredding away infantry??guppy99_00 wrote:

That's what bothers me the most about tanks, everybody thinks he's a tank-badass although in reality they just tankwhore on infantry and never had a tank vs tank battle in their whole BF2-"life"....try Operation Smoke Screen against a team of engineers, you'll see what it is all about...
Engineer is the best class there is for vehicles,if you got a column of tanks and everybody inside is an engineer the tanks are unstoppable, the crates are only necessary for ammo and if there's a support sitting in a tank between the engineers there'S no need for crates at all.
Souls you are part correct. A TOW missle to the front tank treads will automatically blow it up, even with a tank w/ engineer next to the tank who took a TOW hit. Any where else, the tank can be repaired.Souls wrote:
Two engineers in armor can take flags very effectively. Even survive a TOW hit. Who says the engineers in armor are going to just sit and camp? An engineer who can keep his tank or his teamates tank alive and still fighting is more effective at helping infanty then a dead medic in a tank who can't stay in the fight.StormEye wrote:
Dude... You have something really wrong...
You don't have to be an engineer in order to drive one. Sure it is nice and handy to have three #%$^ing armors repairing each other but there is a class called engineer to repair damaged armor. Being able to support the team with armor constantly with a help of an engineer will give your team an edge. Also I've found tanks and armor as being medic or support quite useful as well since I'm an infantry soldier, I require lots of ammo and health points in the heat of battle.
Being engineer for armor is good for camping in one spot with other armor and this encourages people to camp the whole time and get kills but not advancing making many infantry players really annoyed.
Simple peeps want hour in other kits but wanna be tank whore!!!!!!!
excatly. What are you supposed to do if your a spec ops or any other kit and a tank spawns right in front of you?voltage wrote:
Regarding non-engies driving tanks, consider in what situation he got it. Perhaps he was doing something else first but ended up having a tank, eg attacking an enemy flag or find a tank in homebase that was unused.
Having a engy repairing you in battle only works if the tank doesn't move too much when engaging the enemy. That's not always how it is.
Not take it because "im not an enginer"? Sure we try in the begining to be an engy but do you know how bad it sucks to spawn as an engy and then all the armor is gone and you cant get a ride so your stuck with the worst infantry to infantry kit. Its pieces of shit like you that go around telling people how to play with out ever looking at logical reasons on why someone is doing something.

I don't care what anyone says, Karkand especially, is an armour map. When you have the US running an armour train all over the map, don't cry when you lose all flags. Whether it takes no skill or not, whether you like it or not, armour is a huge factor in determing the winner of most maps.
With that being said, there should be no other kit in a tank. The exception is single tank maps (still makes the most sense to be enginner) or for example when you have more than two vehicles in a convoy. Then one of them could be support.
Do I piss and moan when there is snipers and assault whoreing all the armour? NO. I switch teams or leave.

I am sorry this is so long, but I hope it will be worth your while. Thank you in advance for your paitence in reading the following post.
Wellide, wellide, wellide (imitating Homer Simpson). Haven't we a sweet problem here?
Now the way I see it is this. Some of you may not like hearing it from me beacuse I am a lowly First Sergeant, but here goes. A lot of people (and I know a few - so you can't say I lie!) use tanks to get the really hard badges (experts), say Expert Sniper etc. Although I don't condone this kind of behavior, I suppose it is a loophole in the games use, such as with the Command Exploit. Although I'd like to see the badges changed to only weapons from your kit, or weapons causing actions such as claymores blowing up cars, there are times when vehicles are useful to your team (SO THEY AREN'T SITTING AROUND!). If you spawned as Sniper, especially on maps like Daqing Oilfields, it is a fast-paced game, so you HAVE to take that armor, or the enemy will get it and, quite frankly, you are screwed! However, taking vehicles as a non-Engineer in maps such as Strike at Karkand can be EXTREMELY ANNOYING! It is always good for your team if you have two armor (or three) rolling up the street together, as it is nearly unbeatable.
However, I have a solution to this problem that we all face, and all of you will have to put more effort in the game to work. You will have to play the game as EA said it was 'meant to be played' (although they do disencourage it with the rank system...) and you will have to work as a TEAM! Yes! A fool bloodied COMMUNIST-LIKE TEAM! No one player can do it alone! It is all very well and good that you get 100 points etc., but this does not help the common cause - your TEAM winning!
So, the solution. As I said, this is going to be a pretty big pill to swallow. First of all, engineers should not be able to sit in a Tank, APC etc., and repair the vehicle next to them. Have you ever seen anyone driving a tank, shooting the chain-gun, main-gun AND repairing a neighbouring vehicle at THE SAME TIME (the realists will love this, but seriously people, I know the game can't be exact, but this is TOO MUCH for ONE GUY!). Therefore, anyone will be able to drive armor acceptably to all. I will come to suggestions later for kits to play in the armor later.************** Second, the engineers have a very skilled job (you gotta love what that wrench can fix though...) and it takes an age for them to repair something, and an even LONGER time to get a repair point! Now, some people will say that whenever a engineer repairs a vehicle back to full armor ('health') then they should get a repair point. This would cause serious points spamming, with people chucking grenades at armor, then the engineers getting a repair point for doing next to nothing! 'The new way to stat-pad' people would say, and I don't want that to happen. Therefore, I propose a compromise. Every HALF-BAR worth of a tank's armor an engineer repairs (I'm not sure how mant hit points a tank has - information would be useful for recalculation of these stats), say, they would get a repair point. Also, since repairing is a tiring job, the wrench will no longer need to be 'recharged'. Instead, I propose that the repair work will slowly (slowly mind you) drain the engineer's stamina (the bit that you use up when sprinting), as this is what you would use up working so hard. Another solution could be a wrench 'wears-away' and supply boxes or support will have to give the engineers 'ammo' which gives them more wrenches to use (ha, disposable wrenches - fully degradable for a happy tomorrow!). Of course, the engineers are going to be in a pretty mess hiding behind the armor at, say, the Hotel flag at Strike at Karkand (SaK). They have the shotguns (no use for long range attacks which they will be most prone to in this situation, I believe) or the MP7 (pretty weak and loses accuracy - not a sterling helper). So then, whiel the armor is sitting there getting repaired, it's always good to attack (down the flanks at SaK), but some guys inevitably go down the centre. Of course, in the latter situation support should give the engineer a plentiful supply of wrenches for use. Also, a medic or two may want to hang around the area (they can still medium range sniper with their frankly great weapons, and revive each other if one was to die) so that the engineer can always be there to help out the armor. I would always recommend a couple (or even three engineers) around the back of the armor, working in a rotation system (VoIP communication in a squad required) to repair and then get back the stamina (THIS IS ALL ABOUT THE FORMER SYSTEM!), or (my preference) they could all work together to get the armor repaired quicker. Also, a engineer in armor would of course be useless and a scourge of many war-hardened veterans (except in situations like the Daqing Oilfields mentioned earlier...). Instead I propose that medics would be a good choice for keeping the engineers alive at SaK, although they could be sorely missed on the battlefield. Likewise, support would be good (for the latter disposable wrenches idea) as they could give the engineers more wrenches. Of course, some of you may take offence, saying that I am a hippocrit and that this is just like what the engineers could do before my idea. The medic one is the least credible, but a support could 'chuck' a wrench back now and then, so I would prefer that idea. Of course, when getting in armor, you have to think (where might I be sorely needed with my type of kit, and should I be there instead of in this armor?).
Please, all take in my suggestions, comment with free will. This past half-hour of writing be be totally in vain and useless, but I believe I spoke my mind, and I hope some of these suggestions may make you think, and I'd be happy with that. Action would just be a bonus.
Thank you for your time,

If so it does not matter if you meet up with a better tank driver then you if your an engy. And AT or spec ops would have been better for 1 vs 1 armor combat. AT can jump out get a rocket shot off. Spec ops you can charge the incomming armor and before your tank blows up jump out drop a c4 on the enemy armor and take him out. True you can drop mines in front of him if your an engy but if he just backs up your dead. There are many strats you can use. What makes you think you have all the best strats for every situation. saying that someone "should" do something because you feel its the correct way is just ignorant because you have no idea what that guy has done to get that armor.

come on man give me some credit i can play in a tank period i like playing gulf of oman and i know i can survive there in a tank with jets and choppers flying around i know i can survive in karkand. youll be pissed if you were in a chopper and i shot you down with my tank done it millions of times. and if infantry can find a way to kill one tank in karkand they really suck then.
cant wait to finish out expert assault
then back to whoring engi always
veichal whore ftw
then back to whoring engi always
veichal whore ftw
What I'm saying is that if you are MEC running an engy convoy and US is not, US won't even get close to the factory. They dead if they do slip by. Maybe it is a spec ops, who could maybe blow up one or 2 vehicles, but not 3 unless drivers are total morons. If both US and MEC are running a convoy it always turns into 2 seperate battles with a few AT missles mixed in, but for the most part it frees up infantry to run around because both convoys are engagaed in a battle with each other. As I said the exception is SINGLE TANK MAPS. In this case it could be better to be AT because you can jump out and shoot a rocket.bobroonie.bda wrote:

Having all tanks drive together, as engineers in a convoy, IS the best strategy for any situation. Like I said, if one team wants to be all independent and be medics and snipers in the tanks, thats fine. But if the other team is in a convoy, then they are going to lose. If both teams are snipertanks or meatwagons, then it comes down to other things such as your "tank driving skill" or more importantly infantry. A single jet can make a big difference in the game, but it takes a few tanks make that difference. Its not really a big deal to me, I just switch teams or find a game that suits me.
Have a feeling you really don't understand somthing here or just want to be confrontational.
