Should have known this would happen..

I'm listening to some music through my speakers cause no one else is home and I cbf setting up my headphone gear. ***

Dear logitech z-4's. You are making my ears cry.

I can see myself getting some nice near-field monitors rather soon..

***When my exams are over, I'll get to work on seeing what I can do with those Mordaunt-Short MS40 speakers. But until then...

EDIT: I'm a fucking numpty

Back when I first got the DAC, I connected it to the Z-4's via an RCA out on the DAC to 3.5mm in on the speakers. I was using the previously unused audio in, which is on the subwoofer.. so I couldn't see it. Apparently I had left the RCA cable connected.. which was coiled up next to my macbook's power transformer.

I took it out, and ta-da! Drastic reduction in the amount of shit I was hearing especially with the transient sounds (ie. percussion/cymbals). That being said, it still sucks.

Is €38 for 2x1 GB 667mhz DDR2 PC2-5300 ram (too) cheap? I'm not sure if I should go on with this offer..

Not really. Tbh no point in going for 2x1GB, best is always to go for 2x2GB.

I learned that lesson the hard way -.-

Compaq monitors, fuck yaeh!
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

The thing is that DDR2 prices are going to the skies as DDR3 is getting a grip.

Dunno. All but the middle one work, and I think it was forked before.

I bet I'm the only guy on this board with a rusty CD-ROM drive in his server.

Under the stairs in the basement. The little cleaning hatch for the chimney has been leaking.

I just did a bit of cable tidying. Removed everything except Mobo, RAM, Heatsync and CPU. Then I removed the broken GPU fan and zip-tied a case fan in its place. I then reinstalled everything and ziptied cables together and kept them out of the way. Shame IDE cables are so damn cumbersum and space consuming.
