It took you 8 years to figure Bush had to go so cut him some slack ...

Depends on how things go in the next few years still. But It is sort of shaping up to be that Obama is going to pave the way for a quite far right president once his term is over, just like Bush paved the way for quite a leftist President (Obama)

That's why I say the US is a pendulum swingingly wildly and gaining momentum until it reaches breaking point

Yer right, but usually it takes a bit longer than 10 months for that pendulum ot swing. as Varregg pointed out. It does go to show who is considered more dangerous for our country.

I guess they forgot why some of them switched.

Ehrm ... if you can dig up a phone poll from 10 months into Bushs presidency asking dems what they thought I bet you would have an exact match ...

So really it only shows how flawd phone polls is, asking the right questions you can get the poll result you want ...

Bush had the "advantage" of 9/11 to boost his ratings. You gotta remember, more people voted for Gore than Bush at the end of the day. Obama won by quite a margin upon comparison.

Can't find anywhere where this poll asked only Republicans. It asked "likey voters" Yeah I found that little flaw in your post.

NOT less than a year into the administration however. You are speaking results at the end of term, not in its infancy.

dems is short for democrats lowing, not short for republicans ...

I suggest you start reading what people post before you respond, would perhaps make you look like less of a jackass ... but by all means carry on if you prefer otherwise ...

I know what you said Varegg. You make the claim that if if "DEMS" were polled about Bush th same results would ensue. I am saying that is fine however, on the flip side, it was not "REPS" that was polled about Obama, it was a genral poll. not one specifically for republicans like you are trying to compare to an exclusivley deomcratic poll.

Maybe you are the one who needs to read.

Seems to me no real men are interested in politics any more.
The last good politician I can think of was Eisenhower.

I guess we'll see who puts up the least crappy dirtball at the next election. Could be exciting.
Actually it would make a good campaign slogan 'I am marginally less crappy than the other guy'
Honest at least.

lowing, remember to vote this time!

Off topic: you need to get rid of the electorate system and try out direct voting.

Sigh ... my point was to NOT base your opinions on a phonepoll because they can be altered into the result you want by asking specific questions, asking just dems was just an example to get the point across more clearly ...

Its the electrical college which fucks things up.
Direct voting and proportional representation - then lazy slackers might come out of their mountain-top shacks and vote.

Voter turnout shouldn't be 65% and considered "high".

Make it compulsory like in Australia and get 95% of the country above 18yo voting.

Our stats are sad with regards to the voting%:

Europarliament election '09: 40,4% (And then people complain about it, the retards)
Parliament '07: 67,9 % (Lowest since WWII)
President '06: 73,9 % (Actually almost OK)
Communal '06:  61,3 %

I've voted in all four since I turned 18.

Compulsary voting sounds very harsh. What's the penalty?

This will probably sound harsh then:

Initially the Australian Electoral Commission will write to all apparent non-voters requesting that they either provide a reason for their failure to vote or pay a $20 penalty.

If, within 21 days, the apparent non-voter fails to reply, cannot provide a valid and sufficient reason or declines to pay the penalty, then prosecution proceedings may be instigated. If the matter is dealt with in court and the person is found guilty, he or she may be fined up to $50 plus court costs.
http://www.aec.gov.au/faqs/voting_australia.htm

I like it because if voting is difficult to get to a booth you can simply use a postal vote so there isn't much reason not to vote. The whole country voting on the same day means that the mornings through to afternoons is like a public holiday.

And it definitely keeps politicians more honest imo, they know they have to represent a majority of people (not just those who will vote) and that voter backlash can be brutal.
