I'm looking at a laptop made by a company called Medion. Now, I'd don't care that much for who is making it, it has 3 years warranty.

It's a ultra slim laptop.

15,6" TFT-widescreen
Intel Pentium Ultra-low-Voltage processor SU4100 (1,3GHz, 2MB L2-cahce, FSB 800MHz)
ATi Mobility Radeon HD4530 512MB GDDR2
4GB DDR2 RAM
500GB SATA HDD
3 USB ports, 1 eSATA, 1 VGA out, 1 HDMI out, 1 LAN (RJ45), 1 mic in, 1 Line out / S/PDIF (whatever that is)
Cardreader, webcam, various OEM software
Windows 7 Home Premium

It also includes a external DVD/CD burner.

The price is approx. £660.
Is it something I should consider buying?

As for budget, that's about it and I need a laptop I can bring to school.

Processor doesn't look fantastic, but what are you using it for?
I like pie.

Seems like a very weak processor for that price.

Processor is a bit weak, but it's for a different platform (ie. not a normal laptop). If you're not going to be doing very much with it, you should honestly be OK so long as it has Windows 7 and not Vista on there.

Well, even if it has a three year warranty, I'd still care who makes it... if it's out for servicing for half that, it's no good...

try one of these:

You won't need the dedicated graphics nor the 4gb of RAM. Honestly, you can get a much cheaper one with a slightly better processor. Unless you're one of those huge-screen laptop people. In which case you should buy a netbook and monitor.

If you'd ask me, I'd say that's horribly overpriced. £660 is about, what, somewhere between 900 and a 1000 euro's?

You can get a Dell with a 256mb Ati Mobility Radeon HD4330, 4GB DDR2 and a T4300 Dual Core for 459,= or with a 512mb Ati Mobility Radeon HD4570 (that's better than the Medion) and other improvements for 529,=. It's only the processor that is less, but I would not want to pay almost 400,= for that. You won't have a gaming monster in any case with that general setup, the GPU will bottleneck you, and you're unlikely to upgrade a laptop later on. If you truly want to spend over 900,= there are much better deals out there.

Lai, what you have to understand is that just because the currency converts to cheaper, doesn't mean it follows where he wants to actually buy it from. I priced out a rig on New Egg and the price in numbers was about the same as here in Austria. The difference? The currency symbol. Taxes and other things. It might be €500 on the mainland, but it's 500 GPB on the island.

Jezus f*cking Christ, what happened to the Pound Sterling?

In any case, 732,79 or 600,= is still overpriced if you'd ask me.
