Has there ever been one targeted at specific people and not at random targets? It seems like the shooters always tend to shoot people they may have never talked to or known their names. You know like...random. Like this question.

From what I heard the one that got stopped in France recently had a list of targets, and from time to time you hear about a kid with a list and what not but it seems like those usually get stopped cause someone found the list or evidence. I can't think of any specific incident where something like that has acutally been carried out, but I'm sure that it's happened before.

Shootings usually start planned (with a specific target) but the gunman will often get caught, start shooting, lose the target start shooting, forget the plan start shooting. School shootings usually start with the teacher as the primary target. After that it becomes chaos, for example.

Most school shootings are pre-planned. Usually, several people are targeted, although sometimes a certain population is targeted (vs. specific people).

The Columbine shooters attacked Christians and those they felt bullied by.
The New Life Church/Arvada missionary school shooter was pissed at those at the school and Christians in general.

One factor, IMO, is that shooters with small target lists tend to get less publicity.
