I get the feeling that my HD5870 is going to be woefully underpowered for DX11

Used to have an on board ATI Turbo Rage Pro Fury II on my AMD K2 266Mhz from IBM in 1998
Then upgraded to AMD S939 3200+ with a GPU 6800GS in 2005.
That was also an upgrade!
If we leave historic facts behind, this new card is way over my budget for long while but is sexy like hell.
I don't have any reason to upgrade right now, everything I want to play runs fine. As much as I love buying shiny new things just for the fun of it...

120Hz is not working on AMD cards because of driver issues and too low idle clocks.... /facepalm... not to talk about other issues with CF... makes me wonder why I would want to get dual-GPU card and watercool it for very very high price.Nic wrote:

Do you feel like spending a lot for not so big upgrade to a card with the issues known?Computer_Guy wrote:

Really wait for HD6 series or something.

Nice card.
Too bad there ain't shit being released in the near future to require that beast.
/me thanks developers for saving me money on hardware with crappy console ports.

What I am curious about is this: Would two 4890s end up being cheaper than a single 5850 once the 5xxx series gets over its supply problem (supposed to be sometime around the end of Q1/beginning of Q2 2010 was what I last heard)???? Because if so, wouldn't it be better to have two 4890s than one 5850? There aren't any DirectX 11 games out at the moment nor any real announcements, right? Then the Tech Report site said in their review of the 5890 that the game manufacturers aren't really pushing the available hardware too much right now or taking advantage of everything that it's capable of.
Doesn't the 4xxx series have extra tessellation software/hardware that the games of today aren't even taking advantage of?
