If an object is travelling fast enough, the time between you hearing the actual sound the object makes leaves you very little time to react.eskimo_sammyjoe wrote:

True, but there should have been a driver with a loud fucking horn ...baggs wrote:

i don't see how intelligence has anything to do with not hearing the train. There are a number of reasons that he may of not heard the train till the last second and none of them are because he is dumb. Fuckin lucky/skilled he is though. Quite the jump backwards for the first train lolbaggs wrote:

You'd be surprised at how hard it is to hear a train coming towards you.eskimo_sammyjoe wrote:

On the tracks you have to have lookouts (when inspecting them) 100m away from the engineers in both directions because you have 17 seconds before a 125mph train hits you. You don't hear much until you're about 6 feet away from one.
Yeah, the engines on those trains are pretty loud.
Oh wait.
Oh wait.
My state was founded by Batman. Your opinion is invalid.
If something is coming directly towards you its actually very hard to see, the eye notices movement but not changes in size.eskimo_sammyjoe wrote:

Fuck Israel
You forget about the tracks vibrating?

What age are you living in? Most trains nowadays are very smooth on the tracks and the tracks are perfectly level. Vibration is at a minimum until the train actually reaches you. The ballast absorbs most of those vibrations.PrivateVendetta wrote:

That man is seriously lucky. I understand he didn't hear or see those trains very easily as I wait for the train every morning and the express comes before the train I take. It goes zooming by so fast I don't notice it until it's way too late.
Now whether he was smart to be on the tracks or not would be a good thing to debate. Not whether he could see or hear the train.
Anybody with common sense knows trains at 120 fu**ing MP/H is going to cause some noticeable pink mist in the area you were at 0.001 seconds ago.

someones been playing too much assassins creed tbh
That's pretty crazy. The guy should've kept a better eye out for the train though. I don't care if "the object doesn't look as fast as it is"... if you see a train coming you should just wait until it passes. Better than risking becoming a railroad pancake.

Can you imagine the damage done to a body at that speed?

Perhaps the train would have derailed without his work. Perhaps he's in the railway services Quick reaction Force. He is the special forces of railway workers. He just won't get a medal, but we owe him, we owe all of them, so, so much.Hurricane2k9 wrote:

I think I'm with Jord on this one. The SSNTS (Super Secret Ninja Train Service) is awesome. Nobody has ever really proven their existence but we all know they exist and owe them big time.

drunk person stumbling across the road at dusk + fully loaded logging truck speeding downhill at 130 kmh = big mess
i was oncoming about 300 meters away when he hit him
although people still don't make THAT much of a mess.... saw a big cow moose get hit at almost the same spot looked like someone threw a truckload of pulped steak all over the road, and they got to work spraying blood from a tanker
Bottom line, he should have looked before stepping onto the track for the first one. Obviously the second was a bit out of his control. Still, lucky fucker indeed...
