Don't you have to pay for Opera to get an ad-free version or something like that?
It's not -99 anymore. The last ads were in version 6 somethingCapnNismo wrote:

Nope.. I actually just made mine completely adfree (like adblock plus in FF). All you have to do is drop a simple .ini in a folder. You also have the ability to specifically pick what you want blocked easily via right click, block content, then click on what you want blocked.CapnNismo wrote:

I've also got my greasemonkey scripts working with it.

I've never used Opera and haven't had a reason to switch away from FF. Tried Chrome and that pretty well sucked ... so yea.DeathUnlimited wrote:

Prefer the chrome look.
that is all.
that is all.
everything i write is a ramble and should not be taken seriously.... seriously. ♥
I had some issues with chrome too. Opera is pretty solid/smooth. I like to try things.. some people just like what they are used to/comfortable with though.CapnNismo wrote:

Chrome for me was just annoying because I didn't have my add-ons from Firefox that I liked (world clock, ad block, etc.). Then the tabs being at the top of the window kept getting in the way of my Rocket Dock.
Is Opera considerably faster than Firefox 3.6? Because if it is, maybe I'll try it on my EEE PC.

It feels faster. Scrolling is smoother. It's also completely customizable with regards to appearance. Every button on every bar (stick a linked favicon anywhere).CapnNismo wrote:

Man, Unite looks so sleek. Need to try it out when I get home.
It was discussed on DownloadSquad, and my god, the ignorance of some people. Don't comment on a browser you have no idea about. It just makes me angry.
Opera is faster than FF3.6 in some aspects and slower in others - but if you turn on Turbo, it's faster either way. It also uses less resources than FF.
I never saw the point in Visual tabs though. Kinda ugly and take up way too much space.

Well it must go there by default if you font have it installed then. The link in the op takes me to exactly what the images in the op show. Anyways try google.Finray wrote:

I did google after I posted. Posting from 10.10 now. It's pretty quick, like you said, scrolling is smooth. It's all a matter of preference really. I notice maybe 0.2 second difference in loading pages. Mouse gestures are a nice feature to have, too. Could you link the adblock addons you have?Kmarion wrote:

Here is how to do it.

"If you don't have urlfilter.ini file, create a text file with the following, place it inside profile and restart Opera."
You can use any list you would like.

Hmm ... maybe I'll be loading this onto my EEE PC sometime in the future then. Neat.
Turbo is pretty epic.
This HP Compaq with a P4 and Fedora could REALLY use something to make FF run faster on it ... damn university computers.
Opera is considerably faster than FF on older computers. The less ram, the bigger the difference is in both loading times and opening time.

The fact that your school is using a Linux distro is pretty epic though.CapnNismo wrote:

Spell check was introduced before Opera 10.10.Jenspm wrote:
Sweet. <3 Opera.
As Zimmer said, Unite looks awesome, can't wait to test it! Also, spell check!
