WTF LOL

Also, nice picking up on a technicality. Notice how I didn't link anything. It was a quick, rough post. Plus, I've never used an external enclosure myself, so I don't know specifics.

And okay, I'm not a heavy downloader, above average at most.

I have 2 Lacie 1TB ones that have run perfectly for almost 2 years now.  I'm thinking of picking up one or two of the Seagate 2TB externals since theyre on cheap today.

I actually have my 5TB filled as well, 1080p movie archiving ftw

I sure hope not, a Blu-Ray rip should be 40-50GB   A high quality encode is sometimes 15+ GB

No sir, raw Blu-Ray movie is 50GB, rips are 10GB. And good enough.

I'm glad my screen doesn't justify downloading more than raw DVD rips at most.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Um, no.  A rip is the raw Blu-Ray data (.m2ts) and then you encode it to 8-20GBish.

30 quid later and my Blackberry is finally unlocked... I may as well have bought a more expensive one and saved myself some hassle, but oh well.

Have you cleaned it?
Is the fan failing?
Do you have a big OC on it while using the stock cooler?

Thats an awesome idea, ive got a spare LED blue fan round here somewhere, bit noisy but it'll do.
Only problem is ive tried to have the cover off the thing before and couldnt seem to get it off.
Anyone done this before?

#edit: Nic:
Yep ive cleaned it, nope its not overclocked and nope the fans not failing it seems fine to me, just bumped the fan speed up and it makes a bit of a difference, I think it may just be the design of em... Big plastic cover on the thing and smallish fan cant be good

Yeh, but it cant be doing the card any good to be at that temperature.

Took of the cover and cable tied it on.

Looks really bad.

But cut my temps by about 20 degrees.

Excuse me, tech-goers of bf2s.

Quick question/inquiry (since I wouldnt say its threadworthy),
My brother has been holding an external hard drive for quite some time, and as such, has been able to put files etc on it and generally play around with it. Now, the capacity is 279GB. However, only 244 is free. As such, you would assume that there are files shown on the hard drive, yes? No. I checked my settings of hidden system files and folders, and found that I can see hidden folders, yet it appears that this 36GB anomaly appears out of nowhere. Now I am guessing that he has put some kind of software on it that keeps files out of plain sight, yet I do not know if this is the case.
If anyone has any ideas on how to see these files (presumably movies he doesnt want to share, because he is stingy), please share them, as I want to see what this anomaly is.
Cheers
