The older American cars weren't really that good at handling. My first car was a 1969 Camaro that had no power assist on anything. No power steering, no power assisted drum brakes, and didn't handle all that well. However, just as the ricers dump money into their cars, so can those older car owners. I subscribe to Camaro Performers magazine and really enjoy all the new tech toys you can put into these classics. You can make these cars handle and brake just like modern sports cars; less things like ABS and traction control. But I'm telling you, you won't see any modern day car with lines like this.

The car from the linked article is nice.
Would be fun to take an old American Iron classic like that, do the proper wheels/tires/suspension/brakes (as that 1967 Camaro had), and
then go the extra mile to put in modern engine technology...
..like a Bosch GDI direct injection fuel system (have you seen the efficiency and power they get?!), a turbo, an ECU, a balanced engine block (old V engines are typically horrible about harmonic balance), Variable Valve timing (BMW Valvetronic?)
Though, for poetic reasons, i suppose a
1950's Mercedes-Benz 300SL would be a more appropriate baseline car for GDI, VVT, and such.
