So you're dropping a potentially good degree to get a shitty degree? What a waste, man. Do what rdx said and get yourself an engineering degree.
So in other words you're a lazy bastard.Irishpride<3 wrote:

It's gay and shit and boring.
So yeah, doing Leisure Management again in Uni next year.
Should be more fun.

That is great, man.
No it is not. Your first year at uni should be when everything is new and you still have ambitions. When you've already had it in first year, drop out!13/f/taiwan wrote:
Irish, this is my first year at uni as well and I'm pretty sure feeling boring is a universal thing.
Well, look at the plus side: Now you can relate to those chavs on the corner or even MekStizzle!
I think it is a good think you dropped out now, rather than later, but you're new choice of course is real shitty. To be honest it sounds like one of those courses that sound great but are just as boring as programming. Either get something really usefull carreer wise or something you really like, not a choice of the moment alternative.CapnNismo wrote:

In the meantime I'd say 'get a job', but I'm aware of the fact that's quite tough at the moment in Ireland.
If he's concluded the course is wrong for him no big deal.Hakei wrote:

Programming - Presumably the Chinese do that now, that means we don't.
Leisure studies - I'd think seriously about that
As the guy said, with a solid degree you can transfer later, with a wishy-washy fluff degree you can't.

Fuck Israel
You teach yourself programming. You don't go to uni to do it. Lulz. What an epic waste of time.
Well... I've thought about this long and hard over the past few months. I'm actually not that bad at programming, but I find it tedious and boring. It's definitely not what I want to do for the next 4 years of university, and most definitely not what I want to do with the rest of my life. So, I ask myself: "Oisín, whats the point in putting yourself down over this course for the next 4 years, and then enter a depressing job staring at pixels all day for the rest of my life?".
The 2 major career options for me is the Military (UK/US [Ireland's military has ceased recruiting for up to 6 years]) or, most likely the Gardaí (The Irish police"). Both careers don't formally require a professional degree, and when you approach a member of the police and ask him what course he would recommend me doing to have a better chance in successfully gaining entry into the Police force they just reply with "Anything you enjoy mate!".
You don't even need a degree for what I want to do. I'm only doing one because both career choices are currently on a recruitment ban. And when they start recruiting again in 2012 for the Gardaí and 2015 for the Army I'll have some better cards considering I have all this year to join the Army Reserve, Gardaí Reserve, Order of Malta and I'll have a degree, in which I actually enjoy.
Also: If I finished the year and then changed to a different course next year I would be facing tuition fees (3000-5000EU), which, I just can't afford.

Bear in mind you'll need to have some qualification for when you come out of the Army.
Actually don't worry, President Palin will be invading Iran, don't worry about it.

My head still hurts from the 8 years of bullshit I put up with in Clinton's Army.
I'm not 100% fond of the Bush years, and I'm still in either shock or denial about the O'Bama thing.
I'd really prefer if we stopped electing underqualified drones to the White House.
I do NOT want to think of "President Palin", thanks.

Don't you Euros get most of your uni cost covered by the gov, how do you still manage to be such fuck ups when it comes to higher education?
Wow! Can't believe even the army stopped recruiting! Really can't believe it, 2 years ago I was almost in the bloody thing too!Irishpride<3 wrote:

I actually wanted to be a guard too, never followed it up! Have a few family members that were in it, namely 1 uncle who's retired now and his brother/ my other uncle is a superintendent in Dublin.
You should give the reserves a try though

Explain to me why you Americans have a much lower average IQ than Europe, then.
Higher education in Europe has been far superior to US education for a long time. And yes, I've done US exams, they're a joke.
Oh, and we don't get most of our Unis covered by the government, that changes from country to country.
I dropped out too. Shit was WANK, not like college at all, did not enjoy it one bit.
I probably should of moved out really, I only really wanted to go to Uni for the Uni experience, so driving home after 2 hours of boring shit lectures and not getting wrecked every night was kinda crap. Working now anyway, going in the RAF when I can.
Thanks for listening. This is now my thread.

It's posts like these that pretty much reinforce the belief that all Americans are ignorant pricks. This is the shit I have to defend all the time and honestly, I've given up.Macbeth wrote:

AP exams are completely different though (Unless you take shit like geography and human studies).
But seriously, US high school's are a joke in the amount of work you have to put in to get high grades.
