I've been getting by on 4GB ram and really would like to max it out to 8GB (I have genuine need other than "look me I have GB of memory").

When I first put this system together I lacked foresight (aside from the fact that I should have just bit the bullet and went with an i7/ddr3 build but that's beside the point ). But I was hurriedly fleeing from the buggy nForce chipset I had at the time. I ended up getting this memory for this motherboard (and incidentally  this processor later on).

According to the QVL for my mother board and the price and availability of what's out there, it looks like I'd be forced to go back to ddr800. I really did not want to go over 100 for a pair of 2GB chips. It does not appear that I could just get another pair of the same chip I have now according to the list.

Am I interpreting it wrong? does it mean no 1066 or it wont work period?

Have you considered getting a new motherboard that could use your existing components and have room to expand?

Change the FSB:ram Ration from BIOS and use 1066mhz anyway.

Where does it say you have to stick to 800 or less when going above 4 GB?

in the right it has a,b,c columns. "c" means can have 4 modules, for the ram i have its blank. I don't know if that means it will degrade to 800 when 4 modules are place or you it will not work period.

It supports upto 1300MHz DDR2 in dual channel. You can use all 4 and have 1300MHz support out of the box.

true that is the general spec, I was referring to the capability of my specific memory @8GB.

Where does it say it doesn't work? If it doesn't have marker in the qualified memory configurations table, it doesn't mean it won't work. Often it is so because they had not tried it.

I am 99% sure your ram will work just fine in 8GB setup on that board.

e: there are so many memory chips and configurations out there, its impossible to test them all.

The ram is missing a check in the column c under the 1066 section. But you are giving me what I looking for, a bit of confidence.  I'll sang it and try it, if it fails, I'll spam your email account with nude pics of burnzz.

What's your legitimate reason for 8GB of RAM?

Well the full 8GB did work, but only at 800

did you manually try changing the timings, or is the capacity not worth messing around with speed?

To some extent, it just takes so long to run a pass in memtest I'm going to leave it as it is for now.
